The bus is carrying a curious hybrid livery. It is mainly in its original livery dating back to 1976 but, presumably having sustained front end damage, the lower front panels are in the later livery style introduced in 1980. It didn't run long in this condition, soon receiving a full repaint into 1980s livery. The only other example I can recall of this mixture of liveries occurred with No. 83, although in that case 83 was still predominantly green Ipswich Corporation livery, and the 1980s style lower front panels didn't look so odd.
There was a much later case of "mixed liveries" when Atlantean No. 6 was selected for preservation. Work started on repainting it into original livery, but it had to be returned to service before the work could be completed, so it ran for a short while with the lower deck in one livery and the upper deck in another!

Brand new Roe bodied Leyland Atlanteans Nos. 2-5 at Electric House in 1975. These were the first new vehicles to be delivered in this livery. Eventually a total of 35 Atlanteans were taken into stock in these colours. Although it looked smart when new, it was a nightmare to keep clean and didn't wear well. All vehicles were repainted into a predominantly green livery in the early 1980s.
Ipswich Atlantean No. 5 heading back into town along Stoke Park Drive, c1982. With its many hills and undulations, one cannot help pondering that the Stoke Park route would have suited trolleybuses down to the ground. A foolish daydream? Perhaps, but in the 1990s Ipswich Buses did prepare a report on the possibilities of bringing back trolleybuses and this route was identified as a prime candidate for "electrification" !
I.D.s 521 & 05020 photographed by John Ward on 1982-06-30 using a 35mm camera producing a colour positive in slide format and then scanned and digitized.
Corkhill's Coaches Bedford YRT PMN 111 with a Duple Dominant body and Tram No 2 with trailer passing the Manx Electric Railway depot at Derby Castle, King Edward Road, Douglas on the Isle of Man.
Bedford YRT with a Duple Dominant body rather than a Plaxton Panorama new to Battersby-Silver-Grey, Morecambe as HBV 908N and active in the Corkills coaches/Tours (IOM) fleet between 1981-1986. Manx Electric Railway tram 2 dates from 1893 and was one of the original trio delivered for the opening of the line between Derby Castle (Douglas) and Groudle, of which cars 1 and 2 still exist - car 3 was destroyed in the Laxey depot fire of April 1930.

1975 built Roe bodied Atlantean No. 5 in Renfrew Road, Ipswich, c1982. The bus is passing post-war prefabricated houses which have since been demolished and replaced. Ipswich buses first started operating along here in late 1960 when a loop was created to join up the former trolleybus routes to Colchester Road and Sidegate Lane. In more recent times a much longer outer loop has been used; buses running out via Sidegate Lane travel thence via Renfrew Road to Heath Road Hospital and from there via Foxhall Road back into town.
