Young peregrine falcon chicks.
About 6 weeks old, flopping their wings rigorously, preparing to take to the skies. All the white below them, is down feathers and some poop, of course😀
This is Denali or Mt. McKinley. I took this in Denali State Park, Alaska / At 20,320 feet, Mt. McKinley is North America's highest peak.
Its been months since CSX has let power bounce back and forth on the L303/302 jobs but finally we have a decent leader and to our surprise it has now made several round trips. Just a few miles into their trip to Detroit, L303 with 77 cars crosses the Thornapple River Bridge and will soon dig in deep to climb out of the River valley.
These normally shy birds can be quite approachable around picnic sites in the Kruger Park.
Their full name is green wood hoopoe because in the right light their plumage has a green sheen. The scientific species is pupureus which shows how hard the green can be to see and they usually appear a dark purple.
