Brighton Borough Transport 8 (TYJ 8S) is seen in the yard at the operators depot in Lewes Road Brighton. New in January 1988 it saw a very creditable twenty years service at Brightonn before withdrawal in February 1988. One of a batch of fifteen East Lancs bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68A/1R numbered 1 - 15 (TYJ 1 - 15S).

Amtrak no.8, the eastbound Empire Builder, passes the Bass Camp in Whitman, Minnesota, as it snakes along the shores of the snow-covered Mississippi River landscape.

That day, no.8 was approximately five hours late. This was one of the only Empire Builder trains we saw that trip without a BNSF motor tacked onto the lead.

The current 8&9 allocation is three B10BLEs and a CCTV fitted bus allocated to the first 8 out the depot as that goes on to work the X40 at night.

The B10BLE on the 8 swaps over onto the X40 around 330pm at Dubford replaced by a bus from the depot which can be whatever is spare when a B10BLE is not available.

Lunghezza oltre i 30 metri, 160 tonnellate di peso, quasi 6.500 kW di potenza continuativa... numeri che ben rendono l'idea sulla grandezza del locomotore Ae 8/8 271 (successivamente immatricolato Ae 485 271) di BLS (Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon).

Furono costruiti 5 esemplari di questo locomotore dalla SLM di Winterthur tra il 1959 ed il 1966; qui vediamo il 271 ripreso il 24.08.1986 presso il Deposito Locomotive di Brig. Questo esemplare (nato dall'unione di due locomotori già virtualmente acquisiti - Ae 4/4 n° 259 e 260), insieme al gemello 272, è andato distrutto nell'incendio del deposito di Spiez nel 1998.
