The GTW Heritage Unit has made its way into Canada.
It is seen trailing on 422 on its way to Mac Yard in Toronto.
CN 8952 fitting right in on Trunk high line through Detroit, these guys smacked a tree in Holly smashing the conductor side ditchlight.
My first catch of the new CN heritage fleet came as a complete surprise with CN 8952 leading a westbound through Elmhurst, Illinois. A great start to the new year on the Freeport sub!
Winter wasn't quite over just a couple days after the official start to Spring. CN 306 with Grand Trunk heritage 8952 kicks up some snow as it approaches Grafton on the Kingston sub.
Heritage unit CN 8952 leads CN 527 on a wet and grey afternoon. It is lifting cars from Pointe St-Charles Yard before continuing onto Taschereau Yard.
Hours after we were hoping it would have ran, the GTW heritage unit leads a westbound manifest train on the old GTW Elsdon sub through Wayne junction. The train went from "this will be great evening light" to "wow I still hope we can shoot it".

CN heritage unit GT 8952 trails on NS train 309 at Adrian, NY on January 1, 2021. Fun way to start off the new year. Getting any kind of daylight train in the Canisteo Valley is tough these days. The train sat at CP ADRIAN for 2.5 hours waiting for a crew change, resulting in an unusual afternoon Westbound.
CN Family Day at Proctor MN July 20th 2024. Activities and food for employees and families. For those that wanted to take a train ride one was provided. GT painted SD70M-2 8952 lead the train down Proctor Hill and Veteran Painted ES44 3015 lead the train up. My son Chris and I were the engineers. I made up a new set of white flags to fly for this years trip.

Scientific name: Mergellus albellus
This small duck is an uncommon winter visitor to the UK, where they're usually found on lakes, reservoirs and gravel pits.
The smew is a small sawbill, a group of ducks named for their serrated bills. They're diving ducks, which spend a lot of time under the water hunting for food - mostly aquatic insects in summer and small fish in winter.
Smews are winter visitors to the UK, with most birds not arriving until at least December and leaving again by the middle of March. They spend the summer in the taiga forests of northern Scandinavia and Russia, where they nest around lakes, ponds, rivers and other water-logged places with lots of trees. The females lay their eggs in holes high up tree trunks, lining their nest with soft down feathers. They often use old cavities excavated by black woodpeckers, though they'll happily use large nest boxes instead. The ducklings will jump down to the ground at just a day or two old and make their way to the nearest water.

17 of Union Pacific's finest hold-outs from the 'Streamliner' era are surrounded by the Pagodas Canyon's ruby red cliffs on the former D&RGW Dotsero cut-off. The special train is making a round trip run between Denver-Dotsero-Denver and is now returning eastbound having just highballed Dotsero, CO a few minutes previous. Today the breathe-taking scenery found on the former Rio Grande in Colorado (and Utah), including this narrow passage in the mountains which the Colorado River and railroad share space, can still be viewed daily from onboard the California Zephyr….albeit Amtrak's California Zephyr.
