Western Grebes show off their courtship rushing expertise. Finally I got a chance today at photographing them this year at my favorite local digs. For me, they seem to be playing hard to get and perhaps behind schedule. Always a thrill to see this brilliant behavior. It's a neat noise too, hearing the slap slap slap of their feet on the water.
Just a colorized version of the previous shot, but with the train more into the foreground showing it snaking West...

Looking along the coastline at Whitby, towards Sandsend Nab in the far distance. In the foreground is Henrietta Street and Tate Hill sands and pier. The River Esk has it's estuary here, bordered by the West Pier.
