A sea otter eating mussels off of the piers at the small boat harbor.
They always look small but they are the largest of the weasel family at 5 feet long and weigh a bit over 100 lbs. Living in cold water they protect themselves with fur and a very fast metabolism that requires them to eat about 25% of their body weight daily.

Sadly decreasing rapidly from it former haunts through predation and competition with other birds in an already impoverished habitat...
Cooper's Hawk. I saw him sitting in the lawn when I was coming downstairs. Usually by the time I get the camera & get close to the window it sees me & takes off. Today I got off one shot.
This is from my garden in Essex close to Epping Forest. The woodpecker is sitting atop its feeding station and waiting to bomb the starlings if they try to get at his food - he runs away from the jackdaws and magpies but waits for me to frighten them off and then shoots back
