Seit Jahren verkehrt planmäßig drei mal pro Woche der Kreidezug von Lancken nach Peitz Ost.
Bis letztes Jahr war dies eine Stammleistung der EGP, welche ausschließlich mit Loks der Baureihe 151 gefahren wurde. Zum Fahrplanwechsel im Dezember 2020 wurde die Leistung leider von Locon übernommen, wodurch sich natürlich auch die Bespannung geändert hat. Am 19.05.2021 war es 189 820, welche für diesen Zug verplant war.
Aufgrund begrenzter Gleislänge in Lancken wird der Zug in zwei Teilen von Lancken nach Bergen auf Rügen gefahren und dort zusammengesetzt. Erst danach geht es Richtung Festland.
Hier ist der Zug nach erfolgter Zugvereinigung als DGS 68747 von Bergen auf Rügen nach Peitz Ost bei Altefähr zu sehen.

Amtrak 820 and 13 in the nice RWB stripe scheme lead train 40 under the Westinghouse Bridge in East Pittsburg, PA on July 3, 1997. The train has a healthy cut of freight cars behind the engines. At the time Amtrak was going after less than carload business that the Class 1's ignored.
820 passes stopped J57 in the middle of a snowstorm at Iaeger. The 820 would soon stop ahead to allow the J57 to get on the rear to push them up into Bluefield

A hot fall afternoon finds 820 cruising over the Roanoke river into Altavista, led by Illinois Terminal heritage 1072. With NS planning on repainting their fleet of heritage units, hopefully this one will find its way into the paint booth sooner than later.
Eastbound export loads for Lambert’s Point split the CPL intermediate signals at the V165.5 on the Altavista District

Upper Falls is one of the three major waterfalls on the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park. The Upper Falls is 70 feet high, has a curving crest that is roughly 300 feet long and faces to the northeast. Just 400 feet upstream of the Upper Falls is the Erie Railroad High Bridge (Portage Bridge), an 820-foot long bridge that stands 240 feet above the Genesee River.

Viewed from the newly opened King Coal Highway Bridge, eastbound NS 820 passes through the interlocking at RD, starting down the mountain, snaking out of Bluefield Yard on their trip towards Roanoke. Even though these bridges over the valley have been built for 15 plus years, the few mile connection from US 460 to the Airport Road was only opened a little over a year ago.
My first visit to NS’s Altavista District was depressingly late, being wary of its unpredictable & extremely inconsistent nature and anecdotes of weekends wasted shooting nothing. When I finally made the leap of faith, I was rewarded with a memorable introduction.
To kick of my first of what would be 5 trips to the AV, NS 8101 glides through the N&W bracket at Brookneal with export coal for the Port of Norfolk. Positioned at the west end of the signaled portion, the Central of Georgia’s iconic orange ‘wings’ greeted the morning sunlight at Dogwood and the chase was on. I managed to shoot this train at 3 separate locations including the double-bracket at Patrick Henry. I never topped this one in my subsequent visits, but it forever cemented my fondness for the Altavista District
