The NS Southern heritage unit leads NS 229 across the FEC drawbridge in downtown Jacksonvile, Fl. The train is bound for Bowden yard, where it will interchange to the FEC railway.

The Story: Norfolk Southern Train 20K hustles east through the town of Mertztown, on a cool overcast day.
NS #8099 and #1069 lead the NS OCS, running as NS 955, south by Wenger Feeds just south of Shippensburg on their way to Augusta, GA for the 2024 Masters Golf Tournament.
A fresh Southern Heritage Unit leads ethanol loads east under the C&NW coaling tower. A nice sucker hole of light helped with the scene.
The best portrait of a Northern Harrier I've managed yet. She (Juvenile female has dark eyes, juvenile male pale yellow) had been flying and had gone to ground, but it either had missed its catch or it was small enough to gulp down in an instant. It took off shortly afterwards, I think perhaps the wild eyes mean that it had missed that time.
In the early morning hours of the day, NS #8099 and #1069 lead NS 955 east over the PITL bound for Augusta, GA for the 2024 Masters.
With the Canadian wildfires blanketing a large portion of the eastern side of the United States in a haze, NS 315 rolls through Mentor, Ohio with the freshly redone Southern heritage unit leading the train west. Laying alongside the tracks was a new switch turnout that would eventually be installed a few weeks later. Even though the haze from the fires were strong, the sun was still showing through enough to have some nice nose light.
