A Memorial Day morning extra in the form of an alphabet coal train on the AVR crosses the Allegheny River at 33rd st. In the background left of the city skyline is a C-17 Globemaster from the 911th Air-wing Reserve out of Pittsburgh International Airport. Although the 3 SD60’s supplement 3,800hp each, the 65 car train will still require an extra shove to get over Bakerstown Hill.
These locos run on 15kv, produce 4,800hp and have a top speed of 99mph. This was a sleeper service, probably Train 74 to Ostersund departing at 19.29.

Late on the afternoon of 26 April 1989, Australian National (AN) shunter 802 (rated @ 800hp with an EE 6SRKT engine) pauses between duties at the Gillman marshalling yard near Port Adelaide.
802 was built by English Electric at their Rocklea works in Brisbane in 1956 for the South Australian Railways and withdrawn from service by AN in the early 1990s.

Another gorgeous visitor to Victoria. "Popeye" is from Seattle and was built in 2001 with a refit in 2018. She's 47 metres (155 feet) in length and she accommodates 12 guests and 9 crew. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V2000 M90) 16-cylinder 1,800hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, and reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots. Beautiful yacht from any angle.

This was a very badly underexposed Kodachrome slide and despite my best efforts in Photoshop this is still a very dubious (but nonetheless sharp!) image of the Brush prototype type 4 sitting on its home depot (82A can be seen stencilled on the bodyside). Incidentally that fleet number derives from the installed 2,800hp courtesy of two 1,440hp Bristol-Siddeley Maybach engines.

On a crisp 16th Sept ‘22 morning, 68002 ‘Intrepid’ and 68004 ‘Rapid’ caught the early rays of sun as their 3,800hp engines worked in tandem as they roared north through Red Bank on the 4S43 Daventry to Mossend.

The BTH/Clayton class 15 on display at the East Lancs Diesel Gala a few years ago. The first ten formed part of the Pilot scheme order with D8233 being part of a second order for 34. The 16 cylinder Paxman engine produced a modest 800hp at 1250 rpm. One interesting feature on this class was the driver could control the air supply by changing the side-panel louvers at the nose end. During the Gala the engine was started and had its own distinctive sound.
Grup Feroviar Roman liveried Class 40, No.40-0817 is pictured roaring away from Pirdop with a rake of GATX petroleum tanks for Burgas.
BZK use around a dozen of these 6,800hp Co-Co locomotives which are leased from RSCO in Romania, also part of the Grup Feroviar Roman umbrella.
With both 3,800hp locomotives working, DRS 68010 and 68011 power away from Carlisle station with ease, working an inaugural loaded test run, the 5Z59 Carlisle Kingmoor to Crewe Gresty Up Loop empty coaching stock on Wednesday 20 August 2014. The two 'UK Lights' arrived by ship at Gladstone Dock on 31 July and are destined for hire to Chiltern Railways.

Returning to City of Industry on March 28, 1970, C415's 2400 and 2409 and a TR6, #1101, lead a "hauler" past UP's Industry local at the west switch of the Industry siding. SP utilized trackage rights over the UP between Puente Jct and Bartolo. The little 800hp switcher had just about 12 months left before being retired.
Beautiful looking bodywork on this fast Nissan Skyline GT R, glorious gold effect was lit up by the bright sunshine on this winter day at Goodwood Motor Cicuit. The engine is some impressive horsepower apparently about 800hp. Even for anyone on the UK roads I would have thought.
