i started thinking today of savoring each summer moment... not trying to add so much to any kind of 'bucket list'. just savoring the moments we are already having. being grateful for: flowers from a friend, the season for zinnias and brown-eyed susans, running after waking, leisurely eating lunch, having time to baste a quilt and listen to npr, time to make dinner, and time to walk, an evening without homework. and crickets.

Today I am going to my aunt's funeral. She was a lovely lady but was very elderly and had been ill for a long time - I expect the occasion to be respectful but also a warm and comforting family occasion.
Unfortunately it involves a drive around the south part of the M25 - wish me luck!

At dinner on Saturday night, which included the Fabulous Sarah P and the Marvelous 1crzcbn and other great friends, Plácido and Martin announced that they planned to go to San Francisco City Hall on Monday to demand a wedding license. Martina was a bit taken aback, but being a big fan of Harvey Milk and a strong believer of human rights for all people, she, the Cuban, and Ms. P agreed to witness this important event. Others at the table suggested that with all their world travel, why not just go to Mexico City to marry. Martin exclaimed “and you are satisfied with the US lagging behind so many other places in the world?” We understood and here we are today at City Hall.
