Blossom made up of tiny water droplets.. photographed using a 7mm extension tube costing less than a postage stamp.
Even after 65 years of taking photo's of Dandelion's I still try to find new angles and idea's. This was taken today, September the 7th 2024 with my 24yo Nikon D70 fitted with 7mm Extension Tubes into the afternoon sun.
April showers and grey days and millions of Dandelions. Natures Tariff. Where would we be without idiots ?
Dandelions really don't like the damp.

Great sky today, went from light blue to dark blue to dark grey in seconds... no two shots (a second apart ) were the same, I took 775 of them all using a 7mm Extension tube set on manual "M"

At the 5th attempt we got the coveted ticket in the daily lottery in Kanab. On 9.7.2021 we left before sunrise, it turned out to be an extremely hot day with 46°C. It remains unforgettable to be there almost alone, every minute a new photo scene. I initially chose this version (despite the inspiring original colours) because of the graphic effect.

A 7mm x 300mm strip of tracing paper curled using a quilling tool - you can tell that because of the flat little tab in the centre of the spiral. I should probably have cut it off but its a small spiral, and not easy to handle with my fingers.
The spiral is glued to a piece of black paper just to hold it in place. I did notice that the spiral had unrolled a bit by the next morning.
The background is a piece of ribbed black envelope stiffener.
Lit with a table light an odd bit of sunlight has caught the inner rings of the spiral.

Delighted to find what I think is Physarum album which the books tell me is 0.7mm high. It certainly appears that size'ish. Other suggestions welcome.
