The building in the background replaced a "funkishus" from the 1940s. The new apartment building was designed by Wingårds. It is called Basaren, after the old building. I have not tested the food at Grill 77, but I am sure they serve good stuff.

Jean-Marc is a winemaker in the little village of Marçon in the Loir Valley in France. I visited his cellar just before our local photo club's annual barbecue lunch. He was very passionate and generous in his explanations. He is talkative especially when it comes to passing on his knowledge when he retires in a year's time. Unfortunately, he has not yet found a successor and has started to worry that he won't. It would be such a shame because he has a small but thriving business and his wine is very good. He makes 13 different varieties of the local wines, mainly white but a few reds and rosés. He has good contacts with local distributors and small supermarkets. I left with some white wine and some good photos.
Thank you Jean-Marc!

TV-77 snakes thru the S-curve at West Cameron, NY on the Southern Tier Line on 4/28/1984. By this time it was uncommon to find units still in predecessor colors, and even more uncommon to catch a GP-30 leading. The Chessie unit was also an uncommon sight on CR trains thru the area.

First Aid for French Girl
France -- While her mother watches, a young French girl is treated for wounds from German shell fire at an American field hospital in France. A long line of wounded--soldiers and civilians alike--wait their turn for attention from the Yank medics.

The Lotus 77 was a Formula One racing car designed by Colin Chapman, Geoff Aldridge and Martin Ogilvie for the 1976 Formula One season. The car was a stop-gap means to an end for Lotus, who were fighting back after the failure of the Lotus 76 and the obsolescence of the Lotus 72 in 1975.
The Messier Catalog, sometimes known as the Messier Album or list of Messier objects, is one of the most useful tools in the astronomy hobby. In the middle of the 18th century, the return of Halley's comet helped to prove the Newtonian theory, and helped to spark a new interest in astronomy. During this time, a French astronomer named Charles Messier began a life-long search for comets. He would eventually discover 15 of them. On August 28, 1758, while searching for comets, Messier found a small cloudy object in the constellation Taurus. He began keeping a journal of these nebulous (cloudy) objects so that they would not be confused with comets. This journal is known today as the Messier Catalog, or Messier Album. The deep sky objects in this catalog are commonly referred to as Messier objects.
The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has captured this vivid image of spiral galaxy Messier 77 — a galaxy in the constellation of Cetus, some 45 million light-years away from us. The streaks of red and blue in the image highlight pockets of star formation along the pinwheeling arms, with dark dust lanes stretching across the galaxy’s starry centre. The galaxy belongs to a class of galaxies known as Seyfert galaxies, which have highly ionised gas surrounding an intensely active centre.
