Conrail 7601 leads the Lima Local back North toward Rochester as it approaches Pinnacle Road in Rush, NY on June 27, 1978. This was the 2nd grade crossing North of Rochester Junction, and I rarely chased the train on this section of the line as it was already very grown in. I recall chasing this train up to the next crossing at Jeffords Road, and it was so grown in that the only possible angle would have been to shoot it straight on, and so I passed on that opportunity and went home..
Conrail RS-11 7601 is parked on the run around track next to the old LV station in Lima, NY on March 13, 1979. The crew will not move another inch on this day. If you look closely you will see a broken rail out in front of 7601.
Conrail RS-11 7601 rests at the engine facility in Rochester, NY on February 11, 1979. The 7601 was one of my favorites in spite of its plain looking paint. It was a regular on the local to Lima, and I caught it many times between Rochester Jct. and Lima. I sure do miss the RS-11's, and the days of varied motive power in general. I have gotten to the point where I just can't get excited to go out and photograph trains any more, and I have not been out in over 3 months. Deer hunting and ice fishing have kept me occupied instead.
The Conrail local to Lima is on the return trip back to Rochester and is on the ex LV Rochester branch. The train is crossing Rush-Mendon Road in Rush, NY on 6/27/1978. This was the first grade crossing that the train could be caught at North of Rochester Jct. Most of the crossings were pretty grown in with brush, so I rarely ventured up the Rochester Branch, but now I wish I had done so more often.

This April day was surprisingly windy and cold. A early morning venture to catch the sun lighting up the arch was a bust. Cold, and windy with complete cloud cover. Maybe tomorrow :)
While not the typical sunrise image the snow capped La Sal Mountains in the background draw your attention through the arch.

Penn Central RS-11 7601 works Beam Milling in Honeoye Falls, NY during the grain harvest in the Summer of 1977. This was part of the Lehigh Valley Rochester Branch. There are a couple sets of rails under all those weeds. All of this is long gone now.
The Lima local arrives at Lima, NY on 3/21/1979 with RS-11 #7601 leading. Swift Chemical and Pinco Insulator were the two customers at Lima, and the lead into Swift can be see swinging off the the right. The ex LV Lima station is on the left. This view is looking North from the Routes 5 & 20 grade crossing.
