Hondekop 758 passeert de toen nog bestaande overweg ten noorden van de halte Elst als sneltrein Zwolle-Roosendaal. Rechts is goed te zien hoe hier de sporen lagen van het vroegere rangeerterrein. Inmiddels is deze situatie niet meer te herkennen, de overweg is vervangen door een tunnel en de ruimte rechts is opgevuld door hoge geluidswallen.
De 758 is eigenlijk de 747, die in 1977 betrokken was bij de langdurige en gewelddadige treinkaping bij De Punt. Hoewel er na afloop van die situatie gedacht werd aan sloop (en niet perse vanwege de schade) is het stel toch hersteld en heeft het nog iets van vijftien jaar met dat nummer rondgereden, ondanks dat het nummer 747 in de periode tijdens en na de kaping breeduit in de media was gebruikt. Toen in 1991 de coach-Hondekoppen werden terug vernummerd in hun 700-nummers vanwege de komst van de elocs serie 1700, besloot men dit stel nummer 758 te geven, aansluitend op de oorspronkelijke serie 711-757. Wat dat op dat moment nog voor zin had is onbekend.
