The first photo of TrentBarton 74 I got as a Red Arrow spare was on its first day, but it wasn’t all that good of a photo so I was after another. Somehow it managed to avoid me for a while until it showed up here near Faraday Road.
Thanks to the weird way I’ve been uploading these photos I’ve fallen behind with, this is the first appearance on my Flickr stream of either of the Red Arrow black Irizar spares, so I might as well put some basic context of what they are.
The 10 plate Irizars were new to the Red Arrow and shared the route with the old Scania InterCenturies, and all but one were displaced in 2015 when the Plaxton Elites arrived. 75 remained on as a spare (continuing the tradition of one RA bus of the old type being retained as a spare) but was destroyed by an engine fire a few years ago.
73/74 had become part of the Notts & Derby coach fleet, but with the reliability of the Plaxton Elites dropping and almost constant use of saloon spares on the RA, it was decided they’d be transferred back as spares (and took ages because they had to have new wheelchair lifts fitted). So that they could also be used as N&D coaches they don’t carry Red Arrow lettering besides an advert on the engine door, and wear a black livery with the red lines giving a subtle suggestion of the full RA livery.
Ironically on the day I’m writing this neither of the Irizar spares are on the Red Arrow but two Mango liveried Optare Versas are...

Enough of westerns for the moment.74.007 passes Farnborough on the up slow just East of the station with a long van train.Another Perutz,hence the grain.Difficult loco's to get in action as other than the boat trains and van trains as above they didn't seem to be doing anything else.Also at the time "there was bigger fish to fry" as the saying goes.Seemed to be here one minute and gone the next and although l have phot's of them l wish l had more,turn back the clocks!

@artsyaffirmations shared a post with some Jack’s Mannequin lyrics today and it made me extremely nostalgic. Listened to Everything in Transit from start to finish, and then the Glass Passenger. I was never huge on JM, but he was such a staple in the scene and therefore my music catalog from 05-10.

For any pedant reading the description I think I will be allowed one raindrop for raindrops as it is a very nice raindrop :-)
It is a wollemia nobilis aka Wollemi Pine and was planned for the Golden Anniversary of Jane and Roger Bould.
The little Mountain Blue Birds were all over the place at Strawberry Reservoir where we were camping. This cute little pair was sitting in the tree near our table. Love the expressions! We had a campsite overlooking one of the bays at the lake. It was so relaxing to sit and watch the fishermen in their boats on the water. Sunrise was amazing!
