Maryland Materials GP7 #73 was built for the Bangor and Aroostook in 1950. It also served as their bicentennial unit #1776 and wore a red/white/blue paint scheme during that period. After working for the BAR, the engine migrated here to Maryland Materials at Leslie MD along CSX's Philly Sub. The quarry loadout has seen sporadic trains over the years, but hasn't loaded a train since 2015 as far as I know. The engine is seen here outside of it's shed on July 17th 2003. Legend has it, they aren't too photo-friendly and shots of this engine are hard to find. I've never laid eyes on it. Hopefully it's being kept safe, even though the industry is currently being reclaimed by Mother Nature. Years ago, there was a job put on at Benning that took trains from Leslie. It's high mileage earned it the name "The Mortgage Lifter" by conductor LM Sullivan. I never worked it. Erick K Augatis photo, JL Sessa collection.

GBRf electro-diesel locomotive 73 965 'Des O'Brien' sits in platform 19 at Waterloo, waiting to depart at 06.40 with the last leg of an overnight test train working around north London.
The Woking based circuit of trains, 1Q60/61/62/63/64/65, had made an unusual visit of a locomotive worked train to the St Albans Abbey branch and also the London Overground route to Watford Junction. The overnight workings had also included the North London Line, which included the stretch of line between South Acton and Richmond, over which locomotives rarely travel.

1st Airborne Command and Control Squadron / 55th Wing (Air Combat Command) - Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
"GRIM 22" is seen here turning onto runway 04 at London Stansted Airport from Gulf 1. The aircraft was taking U.S. Secretary of defence, Ashton Cater back home after he arrived earlier in the day from Brussels for talks with the British Defence Secetary, Michael Fallon in London. The other stops on the five day tour included Moron Air Force Base as well as Rome.

Posed along the Chillicothe Sub in Romeoville, a 1973 Ford Gran Torino poses trackside with Chicago's famous BNSF 1706. The latter was built in 1973 and still retains the colors of its original owner. With both machines showing the scars of time, it was an impressive scene to photograph! Shoutout to my buddy Nick for bringing his car out this day!

GBRf electro-diesel 73 962 'Dick Mabbutt' heads on the Up Slow line through platform 3 at Purley, working Network Rail test train 1Q69 from Tonbridge West Yard to South Croydon.
The train, top and tailed with 73 962 'Janice', had spent the morning covering lines in Kent. After a reversal at South Croydon, it would head back down through Purley (see next upload) before heading to Guildford via Redhill and covering lines in Surrey and south west London. Finally it would run via the lightly used freight route through Dudding Hill Junction to the Midland Main Line and head back to it's base at Derby.
