TN-ADS returning to Riem’s runway 25 after a test flight.
This plane has a long and interesting history.
C-47A N8071X, the later TN-ADS, (c/n 12704) was one of three ex-Yugoslav Air Force Dakotas that arrived at Riem around December 1979 and stayed there till spring/summer 1981.
The other two were C-47B N8071Y (cn 14101/25546) and C-53D N8071Z (cn 11746).
N8071X and N8071Y were repainted with a white top and grey belly, while N8071Z only received the white top and kept the Yugoslav Air Force camouflage below (photo as such with SAAF as 6875 (2) exists).
N8071X and N8071Y left Riem in September 1981 with fake registrations TN-ADS and TN-ADT, respectively. N8071Z already left in April 1981 with registration 9Q-CYI, apparently also fake. All three went to the SAAF, busting the sanctions in force at the time.
C-47A MSN 12704 was manufactured in 1944 and served with USAAF (42-92857), Soviet AF, Polish AF (4), LOT (SP-LCB), in Denmark as OY-AIC, with French AF (92857 and F-BRGM), Yugoslav AF (71241), Obrazovni Centar Zracnog Saobracaja (OCZS) at Zagreb, Yugoslavia (YU-ABU). Sold to Atlas Aircraft Corporation on 5 November 1979 and registered N8071X. Stored at Munich, Germany, for months. Received "temporary" registration TN-ADS in September 1981 for delivery to SAAF (6887 (2)). Converted to C-47TP (turbine engines). Still active in December 2017.

I’ve only seen one other copy of this 60" x 45" Size "B" Subway poster.

Mint Condition - Not For Sale.
code 71241 which I believe places it in 1972 or 1973.
I'm posting this today in honor of Valentine's Day.
Pat was by far the most prolific freelance UnCola artist. She created some of the most iconic 21’x10’ billboards in the award winning ad campaign orchestrated by the J Walter Thompson [advertising] Co. in Chicago that ran from 1968 until the mid 1970’s.
I believe this 60" x 45" poster image is the original formatted size. My 21'x10' billboard of this same image has the flowers at the top center cropped to get the proportions to work. This Size "B" was likely used for bus stop or subway locations.
It's actually a "poster offer" if you look at the text in the bottom right corner. There are 3 more 60" x 45" "poster offers" in the mail to me now with each one being only the 2nd known copy. Check back later.
Linked below is the ONLY KNOWN COPY of this same image in 21’x10’ Size “A” billboard (the flowers are cropped a lot for this aspect ratio::

This 27" x 27" acetate scarf has my favorite composition & proportions using this image. This acetate scarf is very sheer. When turned over it’s reversed, but almost just as clear. I think I prefer this size and square shape better than the paper versions. It’s created far ahead of of its time for square images on Instagram. The proportions are just phenomenal!

This plane has a long and interesting history.
C-47A N8071X (c/n 12704) was one of three ex-Yugoslav Air Force Dakotas that arrived at Riem around December 1979 and stayed there till spring/summer 1981.
The other two were C-47B N8071Y (cn 14101/25546) and C-53D N8071Z (cn 11746).

N8071X and N8071Y left Riem in September 1981 with fake registrations TN-ADS and TN-ADT, respectively. N8071Z already left in April 1981 with registration 9Q-CYI, apparently also fake. All three went to the SAAF, busting the sanctions in force at the time.
Here, N8071X, parked at the "Ostpilz" parking area, is wearing fake "Royal Bavarian Air Force" and "14+11" markings applied for a prank (a photo with "Royal Bavarian Air Guard" titles also exists). The real registration (N8071X) shines through the blue-and-white strip applied to the tail.
This C-47 was manufactured in 1944 and served with USAAF (42-92857), Soviet AF, Polish AF (4), LOT (SP-LCB), in Denmark as OY-AIC, with French AF (92857 and F-BRGM), Yugoslav AF (71241), Obrazovni Centar Zracnog Saobracaja (OCZS) at Zagreb, Yugoslavia (YU-ABU). Sold to Atlas Aircraft Corporation on 5 November 1979 and registered N8071X. Stored at Munich, Germany, between December 1979 and September 1981. Received "temporary" registration TN-ADS in September 1981 for delivery to SAAF (6887 (2)). Converted to C-47TP (turbine engines). Still active in December 2017.

This is a B&W scan of the poster offer, postmarked 4/11/1977 that the seller provided with the original.
The (16) 43" x 59" +/- panels will be photographed and photoshopped together into a collage as time permits. Two representative panels are in this set. The originals have never been displayed individually or as a complete unit.

Edinburgh-based manufacturers founded by James Ballantine (1808-1877) and George Allan as Ballantine & Allan.
They began making stained glass in the 1830s. In 1843 they won a competition to design windows for the new Houses of Parliament, although in the event they only provided some windows for the House of Lords. James Ballantine was the author of a series of books on the history and techniques of stained glass manufacture.
His son Alexander Ballantine (1841-1906) joined the firm, which was known as Ballantine & Son from about 1860 until 1892, and then Ballantine & Gardiner until 1905, when Herbert Gardiner joined as a partner. From 1905 Alexander Ballantine was joined by his son James Ballantine II (1878-1940), by then the firm was known as A Ballantine & Son. Some work by the firm was signed with the alternative spelling of Ballantyne.
