The Upper Midwest got slammed by a Christmas week blizzard in 2023. While we only got between 3-6 inches, high winds surely didn't help either with drifts to around 4-5 feet in open areas. With all the snow on the ground and freight having to move, I ventured out in the sub zero temps to shoot the IAIS CR turn making their run up to the CRANDIC busting some drifts. Leading the run up was IAIS 708 originally built for Penn Central in June of 1972, this old workhorse still earns its keep on the IAIS and this day was no exception.
