On dark and snowy morning, Fenniarails Dr18 105 with T 7014 from Patokangas (Kemijärvi) heading towards Kotka.
NS 403, an empty coal train which comes from the Iowa Interstate in Peoria heading South at Goembel on the Bloomington District. While the trailing SD40-2 would’ve made this 10x better by being in front I’ll still take this duo on a coal train headed on the former Wabash.
Union Depot Train Days 2022 featured 7 locomotives and 7 different organizations.
In fact, minus CN, MNNR & MTM, all the area railroads participated in some shape or form.
BNSF sent freight cars, RRHMA sent passenger cars and 32A. LSRM sent the Two SD45s, Amtrak sent a "fresh out of the box" ALC-42, TC&W sent one of their venerable GP38s and UP & CP sent heritage locomotives.
Just off frame to the left, is UP 1989, the RIo Grande heritage locomotive. Partially hidden by a stairway, that was was more difficult to get photos.
CP 7014, meanwhile, was front and center, just off the bumper.
I've seen a couple of CP's heritage locomotives before, but this was the first true roster shot.
This scheme is such a classic. With CPKC on the horizon (presumably), one wonders what the future will look like.
Still waiting for a BNSF sticker unit at SPUD, maybe next year!

A beautiful summertime afternoon in Milwaukee finds a pair of CP EMD SD70ACUs westbound with what I can only guess to be a later 281. Leading the way a sharp painted CP 7014 featuring the classic Script scheme
Built as Milwaukee Road SD40-2 #3026, Maine Central #609 (Pan Am) leads HLCX #7014 and train POED passed a loaded coal train with CN #2445 third out. Three locomotives that likely would never have met if it weren’t for the eclectic group of SD40’s Pan Am purchased, and the run through power agreement they have with Norfolk Southern. Most notable out of the three is the #609 which, in late 1975, was painted in Milwaukee Roads 1776 Centennial paint scheme and renumbered to MILW #156. After its long life and retirement on Pan Am, it was purchased by a private company and has been renumbered to BUGX #156. Possible centennial repaint in the future?

This neat pairing of CP 7014 and CEFX 1042 made the rounds on UP ethanol trains last month, seen here with empty train UETGVW 04 (Galveston, TX- Hartley, IA). Making a roundabout trip through the Houston terminal, the train slowly makes its way down the short Spence Cutoff, coming off the Harrisburg Sub onto the Houston Sub.
