Last in the series, #7.

Thanks very much for the kind comments over this series of pictures. I'm glad so many enjoyed them. The pictures displayed here were slightly slimmed down compared to the facebook set but you get the idea. I kept the best ones for here.

Now the series is over I can get on with uploading some of the other pictures from this trip, hope you enjoy them as much as this series.

This picture, although not St Kilda, is from that day trip. It shows the foreboding, intimidating sea cliffs of the small uninhabited island of Boreray which sits about 4 miles north west of Hirta, the main island of the St Kilda archipelago.

It was an experience of a lifetime, even more so with the conditions I was fortunate enough to get throughout the day with beautiful swirling mists flowing between the ragged cliffs.

For anyone wondering there's nothing added or taken away, no deception. This picture is processed from one raw file only.

The full set of pictures for those on Facebook can be seen by following the link below.

Thank you very much for the interest and all the kind comments on the previous Boreray picture.

This was one of those mornings when I rushed from my cozy cabin at the base of Mt. Rainier, up to Reflection Lakes, arriving just as the sun hit the mountain peaks. You've never seen someone set up a camera and tripod so fast, and have to run back to the car for the cable. My rushing was worth it and this lasted for a very short time before the color went away and ripples started across the water.

Older shot of my sister in a shop inside the Louvre/Paris during our trip in August.

Yes it's a bit out of focus, but it was a spontaneous shot and I still love it so much.

HBW y'all =)

Sorry for not beeing around too much lately, I'm terribly busy....

Thanks to the driver for the loud greeting when leaving the gas station :-)

After a few days of unusually hot weather, finally the fog rolled in this afternoon. This is the North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge protruding through the fog at sunset.

Made it to Explore #7...

Thanks for looking – and if you’d like, you can visit my most interesting photos here.

Here is my http://canbalci.imagekind.com, where you can get framed or unframed prints of my photos.

There's something about this shot (of a very ordinary alleyway in Macclesfield) that I love... the light reminds me of a film scene. The analogue film is creating the effects I was striving for using digital photography but never quite achieved :).

# 37 on Explore on April 7. Thanks for all of the comments.

"American sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua), also known as American storax,[3] hazel pine,[4] bilsted,[5] redgum,[3] satin-walnut,[3] star-leaved gum,[5] alligatorwood,[3] or simply sweetgum,[3][6] is a deciduous tree in the genus Liquidambar native to warm temperate areas of eastern North America and tropical montane regions of Mexico and Central America.

Sweetgum is one of the main valuable forest trees in the southeastern United States, and is a popular ornamental tree in temperate climates. It is recognizable by the combination of its five-pointed star-shaped leaves (similar to maple leaves) and its hard, spiked fruits. It is currently classified in the plant family Altingiaceae, but was formerly considered a member of the Hamamelidaceae.[7]

Thanks Carol for the ID. I appreciate your visiting, enjoy each day:)

Day 72

[Wow, gosh, Explore Front Page (#7)!!! Thanks everyone :D:D:D Okay, back to class now.]

Well, I finally got Luxo off the camera :D There will probably be a lot more strobist shots coming soon, although I'll keep a balance between strobist and non-strobist photos. Andand, this was the first time I've ever used my new 430ex II off the camera, so I've still got a LOT of learning to do. Oh, and the forecast says that today's probably the last day of sunniness D:

I should probably learn to maintain that EXIF info through photoshop :/

Here's my first set of Strobist Info:

At Fort Macleod there was an interesting collection of First Nations Artifacts. There are some original photographs and some oil paintings done, based on those photographs.

This one is "Crowfoot - Saps Omux Sikau" Crowfoot was the most powerful of all the First Nations Leaders in the North West during the arrival of the Mounted Police on Dec 1, 1874 Crowfoot travelled Fort Macleod to meet with the Commissioner. The two men established a friendship that was key in the negotiations of Treaty #7.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your week.

I see Dek. Can anyone Out there ID the other artists? Scratchies just ID's Take 7. Thanks.

Espir just ID's Rake, QFK and IH8. Thanks.

I could tell I had disappointed this fella.

"So you're gonna use me for next year's Christmas cards, and what do I get?"

It is unbelievable how fast these birds move. Pinning the focus on an eye is really difficult! Clearly more depth of field would have helped but I was already on iso 800 and handholding a telephoto at a slightly too slow shutter speed......

Maybe next time I'll pay him some bread to keep still for me.

Explore #7. Thanks!

I love Fall! It's the best when the leaves are still on the trees and changing colors. Not a huge fan of raking them.

Thanks folks!

For those of you located on the California coast, I hope you were able to get out and get some shots in this evening. The sky was absolutely gorgeous!! On the south end, there was a full on rainbow and towards the north, you got something like this.

Early on, I tried using my filters but I gave up cuz of the sea spray and rain drops. So I went with HDR here. I fired off 9 shots at 1 stop apart and polished things off in NX2.

Was chatting up with Jim Patterson at the same time as he was getting busy at Panther Beach.

We have 2 miles to clean every April... only picked up 4 bags instead of the usual 7.

Thanks everyone!

Even though the chassis is 4 wide, because of track placement it tenchnically is 5 wide...

I think.

:P

Known as the Independent B, or the "stub", this tank is a variant of the A1E1 Independent used by the United Province of Scotia. This tank was different from the first in that, it was about four feet shorter, had slightly thicker armour, had different engines, a new turret, and the turrets were all placed much farther back.

Because of the smaller design, it was more easily affordable, easier to manufacture, and more maneuverable.

And the back two turrets could fire straight up at aircraft!

Manufacturer: Stiller, under license from Vickers Armstrong

Dimensions: 21'2"x 8'7"x 8'6"

Armour Thickness: 34mm Front and Sides, 22mm Back, 34mm MG Turrets, 42mm Turret

Armament: 7mm Vickers Light Machinegun Mk.II (MG turrets), MkII(C)38mm Anti Tank gun(turret)

Powerhouse: 2x Mk VII V12(D) Engine

Max. Speed: 17 Kph

Name: A1E1(B) Infantry Tank (Heavy) [A1E1(B)IT(H)]

Class: Heavy Tank

Faction: United Province of Scotia

Pros: Big+0,Lots o' guns+2, Inspiring+0

Cons: Overstretched Commander-1, Many crew-1, Slow-0

Stats: ATK vs: Infantry:4 Armour: 3 Air: 1

Defense: 6

Range: 7

Thanks to my father for taking the pictures with his much better camera.

And I believe this is one of the first made of Lego, and definitely the first on Flickr.

Although, it's technically not the ACTUAL A1E1, so...

52 weeks : Week 7

Thanks to my lovely friend who loaned me her remote, I was able to shoot this without having to press the shutter and run into position. It would have been nearly impossible for this photo since I was standing on a chair at the window from another room.... thanks dear ;p

Today was a good day because I spent the afternoon with my mom and sister in town with these wonderful dancers-kelsey and ariella. They are so creative and talented and such wonderful friends. :)

I'd like to title all my ballerina photos. Any suggestions?
