The River Tyne is formed at Warden Rock near Hexham at the confluence (meeting point) of two rivers, the North Tyne (with its source in Kielder, Northumberland) and the South Tyne (with its source in Alston Moor, Cumbria).
The river flows through Corbridge, divides Newcastle and Gateshead, divides Jarrow and Wallsend and flows between South Shields and Tynemouth before flowing into the North Sea.
The River Tyne is crossed more than 20 times, by a variety of different bridges and tunnels. These include, the New Tyne Tunnel, the High Level Bridge,the Tyne Bridge, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the King Edward VII Bridge, the Constantius Bridge and the Ovingham Bridge.
Survival of the fittest.
Peregrine dad brought breakfast to one of his chicks, they did the transfer in the air. As soon as it happened, two more chicks showed up trying to steal it from the one that got it first. (Hard to see but there's a small bird in the middle of them.) In the end, the biggest of them, a female ended up with the prey.

A four hour drive Dorchester to Sheffield, even 2 hours at Bramall Lane wasn't enough fresh air for a Boxing Day. A mid evening break to check on the engineering works at Sheffield station. Platform 2C buffers appear to be replaced, although the track works into 7 less so, which probably explains why 56087 was still waiting to leave.
