At 69º18N, the village of Andenes is the northernmost settlement of the island Andøya and feels (almost) like the end of the world.

A Bánáti Semmering

Az Oravica–Anina vasút 1863-ban készült el és a maga korában kiemelkedő teljesítménynek számított. A 33 km hosszú vonal szintkülönbsége 339 méter, különlegessé az átvágások, töltések, védőfalak, ívek sokasága teszi. 863 méternyi hosszúságban tíz viadukton és összesen 2084 méternyi alagúton halad át. Szűk ívei miatt a mai napig csak rövid, külön ide gyártott, átalakított vasúti járművek közlekedhetnek rajta. A vonal jelentősége eleinte a Bánát szénkincseit és faanyagát a Vaskaputól északra található kikötőbe szállítani.

A vasúti pálya ma már csak turistalátványosság, napi egy pár személyvonat közlekedik rajta. A személyszállítás szempontjából szigetüzemként működő hegyi szakasznak Zsidovin felé nincs már vasúti kapcsolata, csak autóval lehet ide eljutni.
