Canadian Pacific train 528 with the D Day commemorative locomotive CP 6644 (get it 6/6/44) makes it's way through Putnam Station in some nice afternoon light. I have to say this may be my favorite CP unit, nothing on their roster is a cool as this and the special meaning it conveys.

A sculpture which represents the work of the vineyard, it was created in 2002 by a local company which employs 2 workers.
On the hillside between the hands, the Aubune chapel.
The chapel would have been erected by Charles Martel, or one of his lieutenants, in recognition of a victory of the Franks over the Saracens one day at dawn. However, popular tradition has made Charlemagne the builder of this chapel, despite a century and a half difference.

Canadian Pacific 6644 rests at Union Depot in Saint Paul on the evening of June 3rd. This unit arrived for the Union Depot Train Days event this weekend. The 6644 is one of five locomotives CP painted in 2019 to honor the armed forces in the United States and Canada. 6644 is numbered to commemorate the Allied invasion of Normandy, on “D-Day” June 6, 1944 during World War II.
Some unfortunate car problems left Dylan and I stuck at the end of the Plattsmouth Toll Bridge, right as the D-Day ACu passed, crossing into Nebraska.

Once the train hit Ashland, Highway 6 quickly turned into a foamer mess, with everyone and their grandma out to see this train. Even the BNSF cop was out at Waverly, although we didn't stick around long enough to see if he would be friendly or not.
Thanks to Sam's driving, I was able to lean out and grab a quick pace shot before we wrapped up the chase. This is the only shot out of the burst that ended up in focus, but I think it's a keeper.

Recieved a headsup from a friend this morning that CP's World War II tribute unit was leading the westbound QNSABAR620L (NS Ashland Ave Yard, Chicago - Barstow, CA) I tracked the train throughout the day and headed out to the east side of town to catch it. Sunlight was fading fast when they passed my location about 20 to 5 this evening.
After being a frequent visitor in 2020, CP 6644 makes its first appearance in the area in 2021 leading CP 651.
CPKC M280-27 (Kansas City-Nuevo Laredo) rolls through the recently updated control point at Eureka on UP's Houston Sub, with the D-Day commemorative unit in the lead.
Heard that CP 6644 left Bensonville, IL at 3AM I knew it would be a night run on the Paynesville Sub. So I made the two hour drive to Wabasha to see the unit in last light.
Canadian Pacific SD70ACu 6644 was the rear DPU of CPKC train 260 at Nahant Yard in Davenport, IA on April 25, 2024. The engine had recently been cleaned up and was looking really sharp.
