A resident babbler in our country known for its sweet song unlike the coarse calls of other babblers. Just like its cousins they are social and mostly seen in small groups of 2 - 6. I heard their calls the other day - loud and sweet and then sighted maybe 4 of them. They were on top of the bushes seemingly enjoying the bright sun and cool breeze. They were not bothered by our presence and we had a good time watching their play.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

I will be off for a few days, too busy with work. See you later!
After hours of searching for reasonable instructions, guides, and help, this represents my first attempt to stack three photos.
I ended up with a dense and just as shallow macro as usual. I need to a) increase or more radically change focus points; b) find out how to stack, since I used photomerge and ended up with what Adobe named a panorama; 42) use a tripod instead of my monopod or elbows–can’t recall which now; and c) find out more about stacking for this old version of Photoshop 6.
I do not want to pay Adobe monthly fees for CC.
I will try again. Perhaps.

It was a small miracle that I was able to get a usable image since this was taken in near darkness without a tripod. I used the so called 'low light' mode in the NEX-7 which takes multiple shots (6 I think) in rapid succession and then combines them in-camera to render a jpeg of the scene. If you can forgive the obvious 'noise/banding' that you can easily detect in the dark sky it allows handheld shooting in unbelievably low light. Apparently, an 'old dog' can learn 'new tricks.' I am sure that someone more adept than I could fix the sky but it is beyond my capabilities at this time. One day I must find time to take a course in photo editing ... sounds like a New Year's resolution in the making?
I would add that Flickr's compression of our uploads also changes the look of our photos ... sometimes very significantly. That is the case with this photo which when viewed in Lightroom has significantly more detail in the shadows and only a small amount of banding. Anyone else having this problem with their images on Flickr?

Taken yesterday morning on a 10km circular route of part of the Wicklow Way. Its hard to believe that it was the second day of Winter though it was a little cold but Im always well prepared as you need to be. I used to hike in England with a crazy ex British army Para who, before a hike, would empty you bag out on the ground and tear strips off you for not having the correct gear and not packing it in the correct order, just in case there was an emergency. He was right though and what he thought me, has stood to me over the years!
I sat up here on a little cliff looking at this view while having tea and a soggy ham and cheese sandwich, which always seems to taste wonderful in places like this! The only sound were the calling of the Ravens riding on the thermals in front of me and keeping an eye on my food which I always share with them as the are totally loyal and mate for life, and are wonderfully intelligent birds. We all could learn a lesson!
Ive discovered a wonderful, crystal clear mountain spring here. It tumbles out from under a rock and the icy cold water tastes like fine wine! I dragged a container full home with me and its sitting in my fridge but not for long? Bottled water? No! Ive never bought it!
The mountain directly in front, with the cliff is Lugallaw [595m] and the one behind it is the majestic Mullaghcleevaun [842m] which is the second highest mountain in the County. A wild and dangerous place. Ive only climbed it twice as had to turn back on two other occasions as the weather changed. People have met their end up there. Looking at it from here, I can see how big it looks!
I did take my time up there yesterday as I was on my own and it was nice for a change. I met 3 people and had a nice conversation with them . I discovered I knew a brother of one of them! Its a small country and you wouldnt want to " be doing anything you`d be ashamed of " as they say here! Not that I ever would, well, Maybe, Sometimes, Often! Well I havent been caught so far anyway!!! lol!
I hope you like my bit of an effort and the banter,
and Ill catch you all soon!
Im off to England in the morning to see my kids and grandkids but Ill be back on Friday, as its just a flying visit!
Do keep putting up all your inspirational photographs and stay safe,
Pat.
I took this with my Nikon D90 and an 18-135 mm, F3.5-5.6.
I dont use it often when in the mountains as I find it a bit heavy and cumbersome. However it is a great camera.
Unfortunately, the camera doesnt have a Panorama function which is a drawback in my opinion, so I stitched two pics together . Pat.
Update;
I decide to update this photo as a lot of people havent seen it. I think it may be the best Ive ever taken.
Do Pllllllllllleasssssse listen to the song and watch the video as its jaw droppingly awesome!!!
P@t.
Back in 2014 it was possible to take this picture that could only occur on a Sunday afternoon. Lokomotion was hauling car transporter trains from Munich to Brennero (and thus Italy) via Mittenwald and Innsbruck. On 2nd November 185.665 and 185.661 were pulling the train along Lake Starnberg towards Italy.
Created with Midjourney and edited with DXO Nik 6 Analog Efex and DXO Photolab 6.
I fed Midjourney with one of my photographs and asked it to generate a prompt via the command /describe (in fact, it generates 4 diffrent prompts). Running the prompts, I got something very different from the original image, but still "foggy".

I must admit this hasn’t been the first time to have experienced this unique bonding, when the bird accepted my presence and wouldn’t fly away. Call it “interspecies communication" if you wish, or telepathy - I don’t know (smile).
After taking a few good shots with my 400mm f5.6, I have decided to take the chance and switch lenses, for a shallower DOF. The cute owl didn't move a bit. I must admit having experienced a feeling of acceptance and trust. I gave the owl its space by not getting too close.
Shot taken at f2.8 with Canon 5dIII coupled with canon 70-200 f/2.8 II.
History
The site was previously occupied by a Palaeo-Christian and Visigothic cathedral, which later, after the Islamic conquest of Spain, was rebuilt in 832 to be used as a mosque. In 1149, after the city's conquest by the Christian Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona and Ermengol VI of Urgell (1149), the structure was reconsecrated as "Santa Maria Antiqua", and entrusted to canons regular.
In 1193, however, the cathedral chapter ordered the construction of a new edifice, following the contemporary Romanesque architectural canons, to master Pere de Coma. The first stone was laid in 1203 by King Peter II of Aragon and count Ermengol VII of Urgell. Construction continued throughout the reign of James I of Aragon. It was consecrated to the Virgin Mary on 31 October 1278. The cloisters not were completed until the 14th century. The bell tower was begun in 14th century and finished in 1431.[2] The portal Porta dels Apòstols begun in the 14th and completed in 15th century.[3]
In 1707, the city was conquered by the troops of Philip V: the king ordered the destruction of the cathedral because it has taken a prominent part in the city's defense. Nevertheless, the order was never executed, and the cathedral was converted into barracks. The building was declared a national monument in 1918, and restoration works were started in 1950.
Back in 2013 it was daily routine that RB 59531 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen had to stop at the former station of Polling until RB 5424 from Innsbruck would have passed the abandoned station on the mostly single-track line between Munich and Mittenwald.
Around 6, I stopped for a rest and catch the Golden Hour light. A look back north shows the coastal fog bank I was trying to keep ahead of, and I managed to stay out of it.
Still hours of tough riding with an epic climb ahead of me. One of the most memorable days of riding because of the night spent alone with my thoughts.
----
Departed Big Sur to find my next destination, a host in Plaskett Creek. But there is no cell coverage or internet out here, so I was riding blind and could not locate my stop. I pushed on into the night to San Simeon, home of the Hearst Castle. A long and hard day's ride.
I stole my wife's iPhone 6s plus to take this pano because it has a superior camera than my Nexus 6. I didnt bring my DSLR, go figure.

Descending the Sir Sandford Fleming Memorial Tower aka 'The Dingle' in Halifax, NS. (Snapped on iPhone 6)
(I feel like there should be some back story of mystery and intrigue to this shot. Problem is, when I hear "Dingle" all I can think of is a funny rhyme my uncle taught us as kids, "Hey dingle-dangle, dingle-dangle-dee. Never let your dingle....dangle in your tea." Must've been a family thing - my dad frequently made up quite similar nonsense poems - and I have to admit, us 'kids' have continued the quirky legacy.)
