The lesser bird-of-paradise (Paradisaea minor) is a bird-of-paradise in the genus Paradisaea.
Description
The lesser bird-of-paradise is medium-sized, up to 32 cm-long, maroon-brown with a yellow crown and brownish-yellow upper back. The male has a dark emerald-green throat, a pair of long tail-wires and is adorned with ornamental flank plumes which are deep yellow at their base and fade outwards into white. The female is a maroon bird with a dark-brown head and whitish underparts. Further study is required,[2] but it seems likely that birds-of-paradise also possess toxins in their skins, derived from their insect prey.
It resembles the larger greater bird-of-paradise, but the male of that species has a dark chest, whereas the female is entirely brown (no whitish underparts).
Breeding
The males are polygamous, and perform courtship displays in leks. The female usually lays two pinkish eggs with dark markings in a nest in a tree high above ground. Its diet consists mainly of fruits and insects.

Distribution
The lesser bird-of-paradise is distributed throughout forests of northern New Guinea, and the nearby islands of Misool and Yapen. Widespread and common throughout its large range, the lesser bird-of-paradise is evaluated as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. It is listed on Appendix II of CITES.

The is one of the typical postcard from Tuscany. Enough of sunset and sunrise. It is cloudy, rainy and cold outside. Perfect time to remind us of the bright days of Tuscany.
It was a great photography trip with my friend Luca and Ravi. Luca being Italian and from Florence; he had been to this place several times from his childhood. So he had an impression that he knows it all. But finding photo location is not going to one of the popular Tuscan restaurants and have good food. The fact is; most of the photo locations are actually not near the most popular tourist spots. Something he acknowledged after the trip with me. :)
It took me 2 trips to pin down the best locations and now I can comfortably says that I can be a photo guide of the Pienza/San Quirico region. :P
Italy is beautiful. I always loved being in Italy. It has amazing mountains, mind blowing villages, lovely nature, clear sea, historic monuments everywhere. It is a complete package.
That days the sky had scattered cloud. So we decided to make some day time pictures. Something that I normally don't do as I am a bit crowd shy and the region do get crowded at the summer days. However; I choose uncommon photo locations, so less possibility of common tourists. It became a bit hard for us though. 4AM start with the sunrise and 23:00 end with the sunset needed some break at the day time. We took that break out. On top, we had to drive back (7 hours) next day and off course yet another 4 AM start before returning. But the cloud made us taking that extra miles to follow the footsteps of the Gladiator.
