After Detling I thought I would see what our Dockyard friends had been up to with 5558. Needless to say nothing.No sign of her at Detling this year and if someone doesn't act soon, she wont see another 4 years let alone 40! Lets save her before she rots?
On Thursday evening, April 5, a BNSF local arrived the Jackson Street Roundhouse with a very special delivery. GN SD7 558.
Thanks to the generosity of BNSF and Cargill, the 558 was acquired and moved at no cost to MTM.
The SD7 borrowed the marks of a similar looking locomotive, SD9 6234 for ease of transport.
This summer the shop will "look under the hood" to see how she looks, but minus the green paint, she's hardly changed since she rolled out of La Grange in 1952.
It was a cool overcast day with a recent dusting of snow when i revisited this abandoned farm. The gate was closed, so i took a long shot of it.
