Op 10 augustus 2022 stond er weer een tripje naar Duitsland op de planning. Dit keer ging de reis naar Diepholz, tussen Bremen en Osnabrück. Helaas passeerde daar weinig bijzonders, wel kwam de exoot Green Cargo langs met een Volvotrein, maar die was helaas zwaar leeg aan de loc.
Op de terugweg naar huis bleek de dag nog niet voorbij, tijdens de overstap in Osnabrück zagen we een Ludmilla die met een Schotterzüg naar Ibbenbüren onderweg was. Deze reed perfect in de zon maar konden we helaas niet meer inhalen, een gemiste kans op een eerste Ludmilla foto dus.
Vlak voor we in Rheine aankwamen kregen we dan een melding (waarvoor veel dank) dat er nog iets leuks onderweg was: Regionalverkehr Münsterland met een DE 18 en een lege olietrein naar Holthausen. En dus namen we in Rheine de RE 15 naar Salzbergen, die vlak voor deze keteltrein zat. Snel werd naar het eind van het perron gelopen en daar zagen we het geheel al aankomen.
Hier rijdt RVM 55 met een korte en fraaie ketelset langzaam door station Salzbergen, om even later (na een stop&go voor rood) naar Holthausen te gaan. Daar zouden de ketelwagens beladen worden en uiteindelijk weer terug richting het oosten gebracht worden.

NGC 55 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. Together with NGC 300, it is one of the closest galaxies to Earth (around 6.5 million light years away)
This spiral galaxy, which has only one spiral arm, is seen edge-on and gives it a rather irregular appearance. It is nevertheless quite rich in matter giving birth to many young stars.
It was discovered on 7 July 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.

I have never particularly liked hydrangeas - I found them too showy and as they weren't attractive to bees and butterflies haven't chosen to plant any in the garden. But now that I have a camera in my hands I am enjoying exploring them in gardens open to the public!
M-NTWSTC does all of 55 MPH, track speed, past milepost 62 on BNSF's Staples Subdivision in high throttle with just over ten miles left to the termination point of St. Cloud, MN. This extra train did not waste anytime in the 70 miles from Minneapolis to St. Cloud, completing the trip in not much over an hour.

A Soajo, l’Eido do Penedo abrite 24 espigueiros. Tous en pierre et bâtis sur un affleurement granitique, dont la plus ancienne date de 1782, toujours couronnées d’une croix sur le dessus, comme des demandes de protection divine. Certains de ces greniers sont encore utilisés par la population aujourd'hui.

The granaries of Soajo (Espigueiros) Community threshing floors in Minho are a local cultural and community feature.
In Soajo, the Eido do Penedo is home to 24 espigueiros. All in stone and built on a granite outcrop, the oldest of which dates from 1782, always crowned with a cross on top, as requests for divine protection. Some of these granaries are still used by the population today.

vDB 55 is a reflection nebula in the Orion constellation, around 1050 light years from earth.
This is your typical reflection nebula where dust clouds are being lit up and shaped by nearby massive stars. In this case, it makes for some interesting pattern throughout the entire structure.

My 365 is all pet pictures at the moment! The dog is home following surgery and feeling very sorry for himself. The cats are hovering. Either they are worried about him (I’ve taken this from the floor next to him), or they’re worried that he is getting more attention than them. It is unusual to get them all in the same place.
