"The head of some species is produced into a hollow process, resembling a snout, which is sometimes inflated and nearly as large as the body of the insect, sometimes elongated, narrow and apically upturned. It was believed, mainly on the authority of Maria Sibylla Merian, that this process, the so-called lantern, was luminous at night in the living insect. Carl Linnaeus adopted the statement without question and coined a number of specific names, such as laternaria, phosphorea and candelaria to illustrate the supposed fact, and thus propagated the myth."
Die Art Pyrops pyrorhynchus gehört in der Unterordnung der Spitzkopfzikaden zur Familie der Echten Laternenträger (Fulgoridae). Die Stirnpartie einiger Arten dieser Familie ist zu einem hohlen Fortsatz verlängert. Hauptsächlich auf Grund von Behauptungen von Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) wurde geglaubt, dass der Fortsatz bei Nacht leuchten könne. Der Systematiker Carl von Linné übernahm diese irrige Behauptung in dem er einigen Spezies entsprechende Namen vergab (laternaria, phosphorea, candelaria).
Spitzkopfzikaden verfügen über ausgezeichnetes Sprungvermögen. Beim Fotografieren dieser Arten kann es plötzlich passieren, dass sich das Motiv ohne Vorankündigung aus dem Bildrahmen verabschiedet. Die gut ausgebildeten Muskeln liegen dabei nicht in den Beinen der Tiere sondern im Rumpf. Elastisch verformbare Teile des Aussenskeletts werden dann vor dem Sprung durch die Muskelenergie gespannt, bevor es durch einen entsprechenden Fluchtreiz zur explosionsartigen Freisetzung der Energie kommt.

Standing here in Scotland by the lake with the early morning light hitting the ruins of the castle behind me I just had to take a picture..
The mist from the water is eerie this time of day and your imagination could run riot thinking of days gone by when soldiers roamed the land and maidens waiting for the knights to come home ...

Le SA2022 est l'auteur de plusieurs changements d'horaires sur certaines activités, comme dans le FRET, L'INFRA et le Voyageur (TGV, IC, et TER) mais certains d'entre eux, ont pu échappé à ces changements ou voir leurs horaires changés d'une vingtaine de minutes, c'est notamment le cas pour les TER Rapides reliant la Capitale des Gaules à la Cité Phocéenne, tractés comme il se doit, par les BB22200R et leurs corails, ce qui permet toujours de les shoot sous une bonne exposition comme je les aime, donc autant en profiter un max !
Pour ce tout premier petit spot de l'année 2022, je me suis rendu à la gare de Vitrolles Marseille Provence pour mettre en boîte l'ArcelorMittal en BB36300 mais avant son passage, un TER était prévu, c'était donc sous une belle lumière de fin d'après midi, que la rutilante BB22307R aux couleurs En Voyage baptisée aux armes du Teil, était immortalisée une énième fois devant mon petit objectif, alors qu'elle était titulaire du TER N°17703 pour Marseille Saint Charles, avec à son crochet, sa belle rame toute propre composé entièrement de voiture corails du TER PACA, le tout, avec un mécano heureux de se faire tirer le portrait.

Chairs and Benches
This is yet another new series of photographs this time about Chairs and Benches with a few other seating items thrown in.
They can be Regal, Practical, Ultra Design items, Art Installations, used for Potty Training. They can even be vehicles of Execution. They hold immense power and none at all. From the densest populated cities, to the most remote parts of the world. Usually sturdy; reliable; honest; comfortable; often filled with people. People talking, sleeping, with their phones, eating, climbing to reach other items, feeding birds, making love and every scenario one can think of.
The imagination can run riot over the most important conversations that have taken place on them, what they could tell you if they could, what they would tell you if they wanted too. As usual I hope you enjoy what I have posted and this is the first of many……….
Édifiés autour des travées 43 à 48, les échafaudages sur les Arènes de Nîmes ont été enlevés récemment. Le chantier est arrêté quelques mois pendant la saison des concerts dans les arènes. Les échafaudages, grues et ouvriers reviendront à partir de fin juillet pour s'attaquer aux travées 54 à 57. Ce chantier doit durer au moins 17 mois, jusqu'en novembre 2019. Le chantier de restauration complet des arènes est prévu au moins jusqu'en 2030.
