My non-Lego hobby is VR gaming. I love virtual reality because it allows me to be anyone, go anywhere and do anything! I can literally step into the shoes of a daring space hero, explore strange new worlds, fight alien monsters, and find epic treasures, all from the comfort of my own home! All you need is a VR headset which is what I have recreated here. But this is no ordinary life-size headset. If you open up the front, there is a whole vibrant virtual world inside, just one example of the kind of imaginative places that one of these devices can take you! It includes an astronaut minifig so that you can play out an exciting VR space adventure. You can find the extra life behind the waterfall, discover the Easter egg hidden in the cave, fight the monster and retrieve the red ruby! Best of all, if you look through the lenses on the back of the headset, you can see through the eyes of the hero just like you would in a real VR game!

Los 98.761 espectadores que se han reunido este sábado en el Camp Nou suponen un nuevo récord de asistencia esta temporada. Hasta ahora, la mejor entrada se había producido en el Barça-Ajax (4-0) de Champions, con un 79.412 asistentes. El Barça-Madrid de la temporada pasada tuvo una asistencia de 96.589.
El Barça-Madrid de este sábado ha servido para ver el primer Clásico de Tata Martino en el banquillo y de Neymar Jr sobre el campo. A continuación repasamos otros datos y curiosidades del encuentro:
• Neymar Jr ha vivido su primer Clásico marcando. Ya lo hicieron, en su día, los brasileños Romario, Rivaldo y Ronaldinho, así como Ibrahimovic o Villa. En su primera temporada también marcaron contra el Madrid jugadores como Piqué, Alexis o Jordi Alba.

What if that pound of sugar wasn't quite a pound?
How do you know the seller isn't taking advantage of you?
These problems have troubled people for centuries.
One answer was to have an official set of weights and measures, against which all other weights could be measured. This would make sure traders weren't using doctored weights to ripoff customers.
This set of scales was commissioned by the City of Lichfield in the mid-19th Century. They formed part of the City's official set of measures, which provided set measurements which could be applied across the City.
The scales consist of two round, lipped brass pans or dishes. These dishes are suspended by chains from two hooks on either side of a cast iron balance beam.
The balance beam itself is coated in black paint with gold detailing. The balance beam bears the name of the manufacturer and the "City of Lichfield" on either arm. Two hooks located at either end of the beam terminate in bird head designs.
The balance beam hangs and rotates within a cast iron hook.
These scales were produced by W. and T. Avery, a Birmingham based firm which rose to dominate the scale making industry in the 19th and early 20th Century.

This marks the second time in one day that I've seen consecutively numbered locomotives coupled together, after a year + of serious trainwatching, never having seen the phenomenon before!

In the fall and winter, this site is a great spot to catch the amazing show put on by Coho and Chinook salmon and steelhead as they migrate upstream to spawn. In 1989, the Bureau of Land Management built a concrete fish ladder at this site, opening up more than 110 miles of stream habitat to fish.

At 1:54 A.M. October 16th the October Big Blow came roaring through Maine.
I was awakened by a high gust of wind that literally shook the whole house and caused limbs and acorns to shower onto our roof.
A few minutes later there was another gust of wind and a loud boom as a leader on our maple tree in the front yard broke off causing it to crash down through the power lines where it became tangled and suspended just above our Chevy Blazer, I thought for sure that it was crushed but the huge leader getting hung up in the power lines saved it.
The local fire chief and one of the volunteer firefighters showed up around 2:30 A.M. to check our well-being and let us know that just down the road from our house a utility pole had it's top sheared off and the lines where lying on the ground arching and burning wet leaves and pine needles causing a lot of smoke.
They had to return to that scene and stand by and stop any traffic from using the road at that point.
Obviously we lost power but with flashlights in hand we inspected the damage but really could not tell the extent until it got light around 5:30 A.M..
I took some photos of the damage and clean up by the Lucas Tree Co. and CMP.
It's not everyday or night that a 30+ foot tree limb falls into your power lines right in front of your home and causes this kind of damage, unless you live in a hurricane prone area.
Our October Big Blow has been known to pack winds up to 76 mph and comes without fail every October and it did just that early this morning.

Makoko is a slum neighborhood located in Lagos, Nigeria.
At present its population is considered to be around 100,000.
It was established in the 18th century primarily as a fishing village,
much of Makoko rests in structures constructed on stilts above Lagos Lagoon.
Today the area is essentially self-governing with a very limited government presence in the community
and local security being provided by so called "area boys".
It's kind of amazing self - sufficient organism which coexist basically like a city within a city (of Lagos).
It's got its own schools / hospital / petrol stations, shops etc.
It provides large part of sea food for the city as well as is main center for wood processing.
This is the story of the people who created something out of nothing (or anything)......
