Not only did the birdie gods smile on me on my impromptu road trip to the NorCal Bay Area, they kept me safe on the drive home, when a pickup truck lost its load and a double-bed mattress came flying my way, almost point blank. But I digress. I spent just 44 hours in the area and got the target lifer Long-eared Owl by the skin of my teeth, so to speak. The following and last morning early, this Golden Eagle does a fly-by. Now, I've never seen a Golden Eagle, much less get an identifiable photograph. For more than a decade I'm sure, I've wanted this bird. Plenty of my local birdie buddies and contacts see them. But not me. I had a pretty good smile going from the owl, but this one sealed the deal. Thank you, Jean, 2 lifers 2 days...
