The jackdaw (Corvus monedula) is the smallest crow in the UK, known for its adaptability to various habitats, including woodlands, urban areas, and farmland. They are often seen in large, noisy flocks and are known to nest in chimneys and other structures. Jackdaws have a distinctive appearance with a black plumage and a grey nape, and they primarily feed on invertebrates, seeds, and fruit. These birds are resident species in the UK, with their numbers increasing in winter due to visitors from Northern Europe.

I have tried many times to get an image of a labyrinth spider and today the sun shone in the right place and the little fellah sat sunning itself. Many I know call these funnel-web spiders which thank goodness they are not because they are extremely poisonous. Labyrinth spiders are the nice UK variety.
