Augustobriga fue antiguo municipio romano situado en la margen del río Tajo. Se encontraba en la calzada romana que iba desde Emerita Augusta (Mérida) hasta Caesarobriga (Talavera de la Reina).
La población se convirtió, en tiempos medievales, en Talavera la Vieja, hoy desaparecida al quedar sumergida por las aguas del embalse de Valdecañas (Cáceres) en 1963. Sus restos son visibles en tiempos de sequía. Sin embargo, se pueden contemplar junto a la carretera de Navalmoral de la Mata a Guadalupe (en Bohonal de Ibor) las ruinas de un antiguo templo, «los Mármoles», que sirvieron de modelo para reconstruir el de Diana de Mérida y tres columnas más, procedentes de otro templo que no se desmontó, pues su podio era de opus caementicium, conocido con el nombre de «la Cilla», que también fueron desmontadas y trasladadas.

We had to cross this ten-lane motorway, to catch the coach home . . .
and the only safe way to do that is by the foot-bridge ~ which gave me the chance to take this delightful picture . . which shows the crystal-clear air-quality, on the out-skirts of Manila !
The inside lane is for Jeepneys, the second lane for the air-con coaches . . ( and one or two faster Jeepneys, which tag-along behind them ! )
The outer lanes are for the taxis, and light commercials . . . and the few private cars which are now beginning to appear . . .
National Express run an intensive service of hotel shuttle services at Heathrow. Enviro 200 mini 8333 is seen leaving Terminal 5's bus station.
