Day 51: Patience
I’ve heard Impatiens called ‘the poor man’s rhododendron’ which is not fair. It deserves more respect, even from me. I tend to take its dependable, happy flowers for granted. The darned thing grows like crazy and blooms every single day, unlike the real rhododendron next to it, that progresses very slowly and forgot to flower at all this spring. The Impatiens is eager to please and indestructible. I trimmed it last fall (to give the real rhododendron room to grow), and threw the cuttings into a bucket where they took root, ready and willing six month later, in case I ever need them. Meanwhile, the parent plant has filled in nicely everywhere I chopped it off. How on earth did this generous, forgiving flower get the name Impatiens?

Mer and I womanknapped our neighbor Nicole…we had a whole lot of fun, and this is one of the end results. Nicole rocks big time.
The advantage of shooting in a building that was built in 1904, awesome textures and character. This was taken at Mercury Hall, it is truly a beautiful building. The disadvantage, nothing never looks straight and I am taking all the advantages...

Usually people who go through these 365 Projects advise to have a plan. Some sort of book of ideas to accomplish throughout those 365 days. Well, I don't have one actually. I want it to be some sort of documentary of my daily life as a freelance photographer.
On the other hand, that doesn't mean that I don't have some sort of small challenges that I want to face. Self-portraits, portraits of strangers, film for a week or a month are some of those challenges I'd like to face.
And this one in particular that I show today was one in my mind. It's the light coming from the huge windows I have on my living-room. And I managed to do this on my own, no remote control, no tripod... a mirror on the back of the camera and live-view on the camera... and a few attempts to make the best of it!
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
