The Amtrak Cardinal #51 heads through Lafayette Junction just before making a stop at the Lafayette Station. One of the brand new ALC-42 Chargers is leading the train, and these have slowly been taking over runs on the Cardinal as more of them are placed into service. I know a lot of people aren’t huge fans of these units, but there’s definitely something to be said about shooting a brand new locomotive that’s totally fresh! (5/9/24).
made by the man shown below. See that image for details on this internationally famous Czech master. This piece (about 50cm or 20 inches) was fashioned from a big piece of refuse glass from a Turkish commercial bottle making factory. First he used a hammer and chisel to rough out the shape. Then various diamond grinding and sanding tools to refine the shape, Then he used the tip of an old carbide drill bit to chip the patterns you see. Finally hours and hours of polishing.
The next addition to the collection, the X-51 Mustang! This was a collaboration with @brick_squadron (instagram) who did the excellent fuselage. I also have to thank Inthert for allowing me to use the mechanism, exhausts, and cannons from his fantastic midi-scale X-wing. From there I used photos to reverse engineer the engines and wings from Jerac's version before modifying them. I will certainly be building this physically with my other planes. Next one to tackle is the Zero!
I have been told that I seem to float through life; well I would much rather float than sink! So here's to floating till the cows come home.........
