CP GP35 5012, C-424 4250 and RS-10 8560 are working up the grade from London to Hyde Park on a westbound freight. The view is looking east from the old Sarnia Road bridge, and has changed out of all recognition since this picture was taken.

For months, I've been trying to figure out what kind of flower - if any - this is that I kept finding on the ground. I think I've finally nailed it: Banksia, as I just posted, is actually either a column of "petals" or a large spike of flowers without real form (which I guess is a form). Anyway, I'm pretty sure these are Banksia flowers that have fallen off the stalk just before seeding. The ends of each of these spikes if the stamen or pistil (can't get those straight this morning either) and that would make this flower, many flowers.
If you have a better idea, great. It's interesting, but my time is precious (and I talk funny when I pick one up and turn into a weird slimy creature). Too obtuse? So be it, My Precious. Still nothing? Hmmmm. I'm slipping.
P.S. Try getting a black background on this!

I usually don't photograph the coots but there was a lot of interaction with the youngsters. I thought they were at a cute stage. Taken at Frank Lake.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
