We have been confined at home now for 8 days so far... my old chairs, bought in 1979 and made of pine wood with a heavy coat of varnish, needed a new look and I had bought the paint in that purpose last summer.
This confinement, maybe a long one, allowed me to gather my energy and motivation and dive into the process of sanding the chairs and then applying 4 layers of paint... it took me 5 afternoonss to do the job... you may have noticed I painted each chair in a different shade of gray...
Sadly the only species of dragonfly I photographed on this trip was another 4-spotted chaser. Though attractive enough I see them in numerous different locations and so get many photos of them.
Hunslet Trangkil No.4, built in 1971 for sugar mills in Java, enters the balloon loop at Statfold Barn Railway. A great narrow gauge railway and museum to visit if you're in the Midlands.
These two Sandhill Crane colts are just 4 days old and have been off the nest and following the parents around since day one. They were very wobbly the first couple of days.
I played with this in Lightroom. It is nice to use it again - I spent a lot of time in LR when I did my portrait year. I need to get back into it. It just takes that little bit longer than my normal i-photos processing!!
I really liked the contrast between light and shade on the back wall so played a little to make this more pronounced.
Many thanks all for your fab critique on the poinsettia shot - I have been playing with it in LR too. Feedback always welcome on this project.

#4, the Eastbound Southwest Chief prepares to split the 774 Blades just south of Las Vegas, NM during a summer shower. Just about 2 months after this photo was taken, these blades and all the others between Las Vegas and Glorieta fell. Two years later, the last remaining blades on the Glorieta Sub just west of Lamy came down, which just leaves the 4 sets on the Raton Sub as the last ATSF Semaphores in service.

10,957 days or more simply, 30 years ago, I said "I do" to my husband. Though today is a milestone day it is going to be a normal day filled with our regular schedule of work and such. Tonight my youngest daughter and her friend want to celebrate with us so we will all have a party and dinner. We still enjoy hanging out together, laughing and playing, and need to improve still on getting stuff done. I am grateful for his patience, love and support and can't imagine life without him in it.

Un robinet qui goutte dans un bol plein d'eau... ça fait "ploc" !
Mais aussi de jolies ondulations en surface, des éclaboussures un peu partout et des bulles d'eau comme en suspension !!
A dripping tap and a bowl full of water... that sounds like "ploc" ! (in French ;-))
But it also makes some nice waves, some little splashs everywhere and flying water bubbles !!

My Open House day was severely limited due to train cancellations, and in the end this was the only above-ground structure I visited. Still a fascinating building, and in some ways reminiscent of the Lloyd's building - also designed by Richard Rogers.
I'm really enjoying seeing what everyone else came up with on Open House, and am already building a wish list for next year!
