This was a fun pairing to see together; 462 and 428, the only reason being because these were two of the E400 Cities that I found the most difficult to get good photos of. 462 was in service for three years before I got a photo of it I was happy with (July 2022) and 428 was four years old by the time I got a good one of it (September 2021). The 22 plates I've been more rigorous with, and somehow have only got four left to spot (several photos of those still to uploaded, though). Hopefully, those final four won't take me several years to spot.

An update to the vintage set 462. With this re-creation, I threw any attempt at capturing the look of the original right out the airlock.
The tires are chunkier, and the rover is beefier. I kept the little grey air tank on the front of the rover. Mainly, I was inspired by the shape and functionality of the original rocket.
The little probe disengages from the nose of the rocket.

I never found out what happened to its rebuilt B mate (I think EMD called it ET 909), but here's what's left of the 462 A unit at Pielet Bros scrap yard in the mid-80's.
Stanier Pacific 4-6-2 no 46236 "City of Bradford". Another pic from the pile of railway photos given to me by a schoolfriend in 1964 or 1965. Nothing written on the back of the print, but obviously taken at a loco shed somewhere. 46236 was withdrawn from Kingmoor (12A) on 14 March 1964, and was cut up (surprisingly quickly) at Crewe Works by 30 April 1964.
'Centenary' at no.7 platform. By this time she had become a 220lb engine, as witnessed by the superheater header cover plate. Note also the 'banjo' dome and the old-style tender with railed coping.
Image and caption from a large album by an unknown photographer.
Image printed onto 1950's paper with multiple small reflections when scanned, so there was loss of resolution with I took the speckles out. Anyhow, I have uploaded this because it's a simple but powerful image.
60056 'Centenary' was an A1/A3 built in 1925, converted to A3 in 1944. It was withdrawn in 1963.
462 seen here only days after being aquired , exiting what was the Pollok Shopping Centre , now Silverburn on the south side of Glasgow.Still wearing Central Scottish livery , 462 always seemed to have a tilt to the offside , as seen here.
Electro-Motive Division F9 462 at the CB&Q facility at Clyde, Illinois on April 20, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 462 was built in December 1949 as C&NW F7 6501A ( c/n 8580 ) on EMD Order E1188, was retired by the C&NW on January 7, 1959 and traded back to EMD. It was rebuilt during May 1960 into a F9A ( new c/n, 26158, note there appears to be two builders plates ) on EMD Order E1188-A33R and used as a test unit for newly developed components. It is seen here between two CB&Q GP20's testing something.
A note from Ken Lanovich: EMD 462 was scrapped at Midwest Metalics ( Pielet Bros. ) in 1998. They held it for some time, offers were made to buy it, but no group ever came up with the cash. The last offer was to buy the cab for a restaurant in downtown Chicago but that fell through. I remember pieces of it went to Larry's T.E. when the property was being cleaned up. Anybody need an F unit pilot? The 462's pilot and a brand new one from EMD went to LTEX when Midwest shut down.
