This range light is situated on the 45th parallel just north of us which means halfway between the equator and the North Pole. The background shows the Limestone Cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment where the Bruce Trail follows along. The range light was completely destroyed last year by the harsh elements of nature. However, the community rallied to build another one but set it several feet away from the original site along the shore. It didn’t take long before it suffered damage again this winter. Those of us who live on Georgian Bay need to be a hardy lot! I do love living among the cliffs and hiking. This was taken on a really snowy day.
For anyone familiar with Theodore Wirth Park, two railroad quietly coexist with the park's expanse on the western edge of Minneapolis and eastern extent of Golden Valley. Every once and a while a short local on the Union Pacific works the western suburbs while the Monticello Local travels through heading to Osseo and Albertville.
I scoped out this spot years ago and put it in my "Some Day..." list of hopeful photo locations. When I saw the Monti had a route from Northtown Yard to Lyndale Junction, I had to go for it. BNSF 2648 has a full cab with crew members paired with 558 as it passes under Theodore Wirth Parkway. A rock with a 45th Parallel marker sits just to the east along the parkway. For the coordinate nerds, the marker is a hair off, but extremely close in any case.
Been closed down awhile. I hope there's some way the store front and sign can stick around.

The 45th parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 45 degrees north of Earth's equator. It crosses Europe, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, North America, and the Atlantic Ocean. The 45th parallel north is often called the halfway point between the equator and the North Pole, but the true halfway point is 16.0 km (9.9 mi) north of it (approximately between 45°08'36" and 45°08'37") because Earth is an oblate spheroid; that is, it bulges at the equator and is flattened at the poles.

My wife and I were in Kansas City last weekend looking to photograph some Fall color...unfortunately the leaves are just barely turning here in our area and we didn't have an opportunity to capture Fall colors. While we were driving around we discovered this cluster of shops...what I call junk shops in the Plaza District and we spent some time exploring. It was actually pretty cool and this building in the foreground was actually 3 buidings connected together and they were so full of stuff you could barely move around. It was a cool experience though and we're definitely planning to return and spend more time here...there are several other shops behind the camera and further down both sides of the street. I'm very surprised about the increasing number of the Mercedes SLS AMGs. This is my 45th one. That's a quite new one and I see it oftener and oftener.
I wanted to share a shot with a naturally lightning-effect, but somehow the shots sucked.

Golden Dream Christie!
Years ago when they had this doll as an OOAk (I think) on the MM body I was part of the collective shouts for this doll to be a Repro! That doll was a great updated version. Imagine my surprise when she was a fan fav for production years later!
It’s a foregone conclusion she wouldn’t be spot on, but she’d be close enough. I low key wanted a production of the OOAK, but I’ll take what I can get!
I got TWO! No she’s not exact, I think she’s got cooler tones, her suit is darker and her shoes has these weird nippy things (eeyuck) but I like!
Anybody know where I can get some Lurex fabric! 😀
