Northbound empty grain GMXKC25 passes under the El Campo Rice Farmers Co-op silos straddling the Rosenberg Sub. This train was made up entirely of CP hoppers, presumably for interchange back to CP in Kansas City.

Today I got onto the computer in the afternoon, instead of at almost midnight, like I usually do. So, I was in time to notice that in the group We're Here, the theme was chocolate... and I had time to take a photo!

So here is one of my favorite chocolates... my other fave is Lindt "Caramel with a touch of Sea Salt"... although the two chocolates taste so different from one another, I don't like having one after the other.

So, for We're Here, here is chocolate.

De ochtend nadat ik de Colas-werftrein had vastgelegd, was ik al snel weer op de been: ik wilde die dag beginnen in Saintes, waar om half acht de eerste Eurostar/Thalys-dienst van Parijs naar Amsterdam zou passeren. Een halfuur later stond de TGV van Lille naar Brussel op het programma, een trein die zelfs door pendelaars wordt gebruikt om dagelijks in onze hoofdstad te gaan werken. Met een normale reistijd van slechts 39 minuten is dat niet verwonderlijk — heel wat andere forenzen uit België doen er langer over om Brussel te bereiken.

Op die dinsdag liep het echter anders: door de werken op de hogesnelheidslijn duurde de rit bijna een uur, omdat de trein werd omgeleid via de klassieke lijnen 94 en 96 tussen Silly en Brussel.

Voor deze trein koos ik eens een andere fotoplek: het voormalige station van Saintes. De trein kwam hier trouwens sneller opdagen dan ik verwacht had, waardoor mijn hoogstatief maar net op tijd naar boven was toen ik al moest afdrukken. Gelukkig staan de nieuwe Infrabel-hekjes, die werden geplaatst bij een afgeschafte overweg, vanuit mijn standpunt ver genoeg zodat ze niet storend in beeld komen. Gezien de vele nieuwe woningen die hier de laatste jaren zijn bijgebouwd, zou een heropening van deze halte eigenlijk geen slechte keuze zijn. Maar of de NMBS daar ooit werk van zal maken?

The morning after I had captured the Colas work train, I was quickly back on my feet: I wanted to start the day in Saintes, where at half past seven the first Eurostar/Thalys service from Paris to Amsterdam was scheduled to pass. Half an hour later, the TGV from Lille to Brussels was on the program — a train even used by commuters traveling daily to our capital. With a normal journey time of only 39 minutes, that is hardly surprising; many other commuters within Belgium need longer to reach Brussels.

That Tuesday, however, things turned out differently: due to engineering works on the high-speed line, the trip took nearly an hour, as the train was diverted via the classic lines 94 and 96 between Silly and Brussels.

For this train I tried something different and took up position at the former station of Saintes. Given the many new houses that have been built here in recent years, reopening this stop would actually make sense. But whether SNCB will ever consider it?
