Project „Pulsar“
06/10
Description:
The pulsar PSR B0833-45 or Vela Pulsar is a radio, optical, X-ray- and gamma-emitting pulsar associated with the Vela Supernova Remnant in the constellation of Vela. He is approx. 815 +/- 100 light-years away and with his 11,000 years comparatively young pulsar. It completes one rotation every 0,08933 seconds, it means 11.19 rotation each second.

Project „Pulsar“
As I was child, I always hate to go to sleep and I always wish, when I gove up, I will became a astronomer. Well, I didn’t become but the fascination of universe has don’t leave me at all.
The idea of project „Pulsar“ was, to visualize as art, the screams out of deepest space of this bizarre space objects. If you like to know more about Puslars, ask Google😉
Then I grabed audio recordings of Pulsar sounds, a subwoofer, av receiver, colour and my cam. And the results you see here. I hope you like it.
To be continued…

Keeping up my tradition of designing a special model for each new year, I came up with this one, called 45² (pronounced “45 squared”). 2025 is a perfect square: 2025 = 45². It is the only such year I expect to see during my lifetime, the previous one being 44² = 1936, and the next being 46² = 2116, so I couldn’t miss the opportunity.
The model is folded from a 45×45 grid, consisting of 45² = 2025 little squares. In order to visualize this, I folded from a full grid rather than using my clean folding techniques that hide the grid. The finished model is 20×25 grid units (vertical×horizontal). I had to cheat a little this since the model resulting from the collapse of just the digits is slightly larger, and folded the edges behind in order to get the desired size.
Finally, the model is folded from banana paper. I selected it due to interesting looks, and since I wanted to test this sheet I got in the summer (long story short: it’s not well suited for tessellations). Finding the time to finish the model took me almost all of January, and this time gave me the impression that I can ascribe additional meaning to this choice since it seems 2025 is going to be completely bananas.
these girls have been best friends for over 10 years now. and they are so fun to have around.

Hearted

We don't do the Valentines thing, but #2 was happy to pose.
Sometime shooting into the sun works.
It's about 7:45 PM and the sky over Turnagain Arm is afire while the steep walls of the Chugach Mountains rising from tidewater are bathed in deep shadows. The headlights of an Alaska Railroad SD70MAC pierce the bold shadows at and a sister lead a long120S freight from Anchorage to Whittier destined for a rendezvous with the Alaska Marine Lines barge headed back to Seattle. They are coiling south near MP 92 a bit under a mile and half south of the short Rainbow Siding that's tucked up against the Seward highway at right.

I took this last week, so it is not freshly off the camera, but I like it.
This week's topic reminds me, I have to take more photos as a family, including me.
just a quick snapshot of me and little man...we were just sitting around the house bored, we were planning on going to the park this evening but when I called time and temp at 5:45 it was 102 degrees :(
Another shot from the late Stephen Whittle collection. However l'm not sure if it was taken by him. Most of his shots were taken circa 1987-1990's and this is somewhat earlier,l would say about 1978,and mostly not far from stations or depots as he was still more interested in numbers. He may have been a bit young for what is a splendid shot,or perhaps l am doing him a disservice.Equally it could have been taken by his father, who was also an ethusiast.l'm afraid l didn't actually know Stephen. There was no documentation with the slides, his mother had thrown it out,so all l have to go on is the slide itself. The loco is clearly 45.137 in about 1978 and l would say it is Kibworth at the site of the former station, unless someone knows better.Anyway was definitely worth adding to flickr!
