Class AM96 are 3-car express electric multiple units ordered in 1996. They are rated at 1400 kW, 1877 hp with a top speed of 160 km/h, 100 mph. Seating for 45 first class and 167 second class. The set is composed of a driving motor 2nd, second and a driving motor first with luggage. Units 441 to 490 are capable of running on 3000 volt DC and 25Kv AC.
