With very few in person events happening this summer, the weekly Rt. 31 Cars & Coffee in Clay, NY has kept me clicking the shutter.

With the Go2 and Network brands gone and most routes having a service on par with each other, the number of NCT vehicles carrying common branding for a group of routes has shot up. Brown, orange, lime and purple lines have all seen this introduced recently, but what sets orange line apart from the other three is that the routes don't interwork at any point.
Therefore the commonly branded orange line buses are, effectively, 'orange spares' that can perform on any of the three routes as required. At the moment there are three of these; biogas E400 Cities 442/3 and diesel Scania E400 627. With the 35 four (five incl 627) branded buses short, one of the 36s off the road and all the old 34s withdrawn, the orange spares are barely making a dint in the number of silver spares seen across orange line right now, but that will likely change later in the year when the 22-plates arrive for the 35.
For now, aside from the odd turn on the 34, the multi-branded oranges tend to be sticking to their 'home' routes, with 627 mostly on the 35 and 442/3 mostly on the 36. Here is 442 doing just that as it comes along Inham Road in Chilwell with a 36 on 24.3.22

Burlington Northern Railroad SW1000 442 at Galesburg, Illinois on June 7, 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 442 was built in December 1970 ( c/n 35889 ) as CB&Q 9329. Around January 1987 Number 442 lost its cab to wreck damage and was converted to a SW10B, retaining raod number 442, eventually becoming BNSF SW10B 3635.
