We had snow again today!! Took this snap of a snowy nosed Tilly at the door!

The snowstorm of the past few days has cleared. It's sunny again and I am looking forward to summer. June 10th looked like this last year.

Using the Unicolor C-41 Home Development Kit from The FPP. I can now easily process color print film!

Heating the chemistry is a snap - Just place the 1 liter chems in a bucket of hot tap water. Keep an eye on your temp. When you reach the 102F degrees, your ready to go.

Difficult? No way!

First of a new series. A beautiful 41 Willys. Custom built by a friend of mine. My 14 year old son helps out at his shop and helped with this car.

Ok, last pics of Hyori, 'cause she'll go back home on Monday!

Union Pacific Railroad U50 41 at Council Bluffs, Iowa on May 2, 1965, Kodachrome by Lou Schmitz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built around August 1964 ( c/n 35101 ), retired and traded to GE January 1974.

The numbers 1 72 appear in the engineer's side number board, and at the time of this photo, the UP ( and the SP ) were using the number boards to display the train number, not the locomotive number, so perhaps this locomotive last worked the first section of train # 72. The trucks and connecting span bolsters came from retired gas-turbine locomotives.

This locomotive was essentially two U25B's on a common frame. The UP had determined that the maintenance costs were independent of the power output of the locomotive, so the concept was to reduce maintenance costs by using a few large locomotives in place of several smaller locomotives. Located in the picturesque southern constellation of Centaurus, the Gum 41 nebula takes up most of this image brought to you by the VLT Survey Telescope, hosted at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile. Let’s take a closer look at this intricate structure.

Set against a colorful backdrop of stars, Gum 41 is a pleasantly symmetric example of a Strömgren sphere: a shell of hydrogen gas atoms glowing in rosy hues due to the radiation of the dazzling central star. While this star, called HD 100099, may appear to be one very bright object, it is actually thought to be two young, massive stars orbiting in such a tight embrace that they cannot be separated at the scale of this image.

This romantic region is home to many pairs like this, including the luminous object on the lower right outskirts of the nebula, HD 99944. Sadly, the love story in these stellar couples will have a tragic ending: unlike our Sun, these hot and massive stars tend to have short lifetimes of only a few million years, and eventually there will be no young stars left to make the nebula glow. One day, Gum 41 will fade into transparency and be lost to future astronomers forever.

Gum 41 is also a member of a much larger region, affectionately called the Running Chicken Nebula. Whether Gum 41 forms the foot or the head of the chicken is surprisingly controversial. Take a look here — what do you see?
