When I first ran into this House Sparrow at the farm, I asked him where he was from. "Colorado," said he. "I never knew it could get this cold in California." Surprise!!!
It was a cold day when we actually got below 30, and it was obvious that this was one bird who, although not used to it, was prepared for the temperature. For a bird that weighs one ounce, he was carrying a down comforter three times his normal size.

in the late 80's Erie Mining picked up several BN Alco RS-11's for parts and service. 4186 would go on to be EMCO 7216. In this view from Aug 1988 shows it in the shop with fellow RS-11 # 7200.
Another from the RIAT air show on Sunday. I love the angles where the aircraft mix with the various coloured smoke trails. I think this one's a Kuwait Hawk - the equivalent of a Red Arrows Hawk. The Kuwait teamdisplay was superb!
