Point Reyes National Seashore is home to California's endemic Tule Elk. The subspecies name derives from the tule, a species of sedge native to freshwater marshes on which the Tule elk feeds. Late afternoon, this big guy takes an apparent break from his extensive harem. I thought he was particularly handsome, his antlers have that deep dark varnished look. Check him out "Large".

Zo irritant als mensen in je beeld gaan staan. In het geval van koeien kan ik het wel waarderen. Het komt niet vaak voor dat alle beesten hier gaan rondhangen.
Het leek mij wel een leuk motief om ICMm 4056 als IC van Enschede naar Schiphol Airport (1644) vast te leggen ter hoogte van Deventer Colmschate.

Running PTC-less, BNSF's M EGWHOU1 11T (Englewood- New South Yard transfer) sports FXE #4056 in the lead, running south on UP's Houston East Belt Sub, crossing the Strang Sub in the background at Tower 86.
I was surprised to see this unit on the point of the train sitting in the east end of Englewood Yard with headlights on, and even more surprised when it pulled out onto the East Belt main without swapping power. With only a 6-mile run between the two yards, a non-PTC leader was quite the welcome sight.
