Am Morgen des 8.September 2023 besuchte ich mal wieder dieses Motiv:
Kurz vor dem ehemaligen Block Bodental, zwischen Lorch und Aßmannshausen gelegen unterhalb des Campingplatz Suleika, kann man morgens wunderbar Züge gen Süden fotografieren auf der KBS 466 fotografieren.
Dort mündet aus einer tiefen Seitenschlucht auch der Bodentaler Bach in den Rhein
Achtung: Die Zufahrtstraße schreibt sich mit "th" und heißt "im Bodenthal" !
Leider wird dies Motiv oft als Bächergrund getaggt was verkehrt ist!
Der Geh- und Radweg entlang der B42 wurde fertig gestellt und führt von bislang kurz vor Rüdesheim nach Lorch und hatte Gesamtkosten von etwa 137,5 Millionen Euro gekostet, einschließlich der Erneuerung und Verbreiterung der B42. Umgerechnet auf die 11,3 Kilometer Länge sind das 12.168 Euro Kosten pro Meter.
Während der Bauarbeiten war es dort überhaupt nicht fotogen dort Eisenbahn zu fotografieren.
Wenn man vom ehemaligen Block Bodental, heute ein Wohnhaus, weiter gen Süden wandert kann man dieses Motiv um setzten aus den Weinbergen:
Der erste fotogene Güterzug auf der rechten Rheinstrecke (KBS 466) gen Süden an diesem Motiv war der voll beladene Containerzug DGS 40259 von SBB Cargo International aus Rotterdam Waalhaven Zuid in den Niederlanden nach Novara Boschetto in Italien mit der schönen SIEAG/ SBB Cargo International 193 523 (Werbelok Alppiercer 2) mit dem Taufnamen "Lahn" als Zuglok.
Herrlich finde ich den schönen bunten Tankcontainer am Anfang des Zuges😊.
Auf der anderen Rheinseite zu sehen ist links der Steinbruch und die Verladeanlage vom Quarzit Tagebau Sooneck die heute zur Unternehmensgruppe de Beijer Groep BV gehören.

Das Unternehmen verlädt seine Produkte auf Lkw aber auch wie bei mir auch Frachtschiffe mit einem Förderband über die B9 und die linke Rheinstrecke (KBS 471).
Rechts davon zu sehen ist die Burg Sooneck und weiter rechts die Gemeinde Niederheimbach.
Die Häuser links gehören noch zu Trechtingshausen.
Die Sonne steht noch hoch, als der RAlpiercer 186 907 um 19:39 mit dem 40259 von Rotterdam Waalhaven nach Novara unterwegs ist und bei Steinen am Fotografen vorbei zieht. Bis die Sonne dann hinter der Flanke des Rossbergs den Tag beschliesst, wird es noch rund eine Stunde dauern.

Der zweite Xload Vectron war die 193 541 "Alte Oper Frankfurt" , welche um 12:13 mit dem 40259 von Rotterdam Waalhaven nach Novara die Solarzellen bei Waghäusel passierte

The Oxford Canal in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The Oxford Canal is amongst the earliest of cuts in the Canal Age. It was initially designed by James Brindley, succeeded by Samuel Simcock and Robert Whitworth after Brindley's untimely death in 1772 at the age of 56.
It was opened in sections between 1774 and 1790 with the purpose of bringing coal from the Coventry coalfields to Oxford and the River Thames. The canal formed part of Brindley's grand plan for a waterway 'cross' linking the rivers Thames, Mersey, Trent and Severn.
The Oxford Canal provided a direct link with London via the Thames, and for several years was hugely profitable. The arrival of the Grand Junction Canal, linking Braunston to London and later becoming the backbone of the Grand Union Canal, finally broke its stranglehold and effectively bypassed the southern half of the Oxford Canal.
Nonetheless, it brought more traffic to the northern section, which soon required upgrading. The Oxford Canal was originally built to the contour method favoured by Brindley, which not only meant that earthworks were minimised, but that the canal could call at many villages and wharves along the route.
Boating at BraunstonIn the 1830s, Marc Brunel and William Cubitt made the most of developments in engineering to straighten Brindley's original line. Several of the resulting 'loops', where the new line bisected the old, can still be seen: some have found use as tranquil moorings.
But the southern section between Napton and Oxford remains remarkably unspoilt and offers an evocative insight into canal life as it would have been two centuries ago. Trade began to seriously decline on the Oxford after World War II, but commerce continued well into the 1960s.
Tooley's Boatyard, in Banbury, is famous as the spot from where canal pioneer Tom Rolt set out on his 1930s journey around the waterways. His travels in Cressy were immortalised in the book Narrow Boat, which directly led to the formation of the Inland Waterways Association and the campaign to save the waterways.
The historic Oxford terminus of the canal is long lost, sold to Nuffield College and redeveloped as a public car park. However, support is growing for proposals to reinstate it as the heart of a new cultural quarter for the city.

Now a day everyone is so busy that they don’t even have perfection in work. Seen here is best example of this… Ex Vatva now transferred to Sabarmati WDP-4D # 40259 resting on loco stabling line at Pune with two shed names, Vatva and Sabarmati. It seems that Sabarmati shed workers have time to stencil Sabarmati name on loco but don’t know how to remove stencilled Vatva from it. Don’t know exact reason why this loco was stabled at Pune. It was accompanied by KJM WDP-4D.
11464 Jabalpur-Somnath Express (via Itarsi) reaches its destination; Somnath Terminus on one fine evening !!! The train was powered by WDP4D #40259 of SBI (SABARMATI) from Ahmedabad Jn.

Plenty of weather on our walk, as we complete a few gaps on the West Highland Way.
Composite of two images (focus stacked manually) from the MOG Orestor 135/2.8 lens at f/8. Being a telephoto lens, it's impossible to get sharp focus on the hills and foreground at f/8, and sensor dust becomes an issue at f/11.
Technically speaking, this lens is really very good; it has picked out scaffolding poles (5cm diameter) from almost 3km distance, zoom in on the biggest house to see for yourself.
In PP, I've tried to balance out the lighting a bit, the original images were under-exposed, but I've left the final image quite dark to get a sense of the weather we had (no point trying to make it look as bright as a summer's day). After that, a tiny bit of sharpening and noise reduction.

The San Diego Air and Space Museum houses a large Special Collection from Patrol Squadron 106. VPB-106 flew PB4Ys and saw heavy combat in the South Pacific during the Second World War. The Museum houses many records from the VPB-106 including Squadron musters, reunion abums, VHS Tapes, Action Reports, memoirs, combat diaries, misc documents.
