I have no idea what this flower is. On quite a large shrub/tree that was hanging over the top of a six foot high fence.
I am hoping that someone will be able to help me out with the name.
Daniel came fourth in his age group at the cross country yesterday and our school took out the championship.
A quick dump and run, I have to head out for a while, will catch up later.

I spotted that the Pincushion Hakeas were blooming yesterday when I walked up to Daniel and Sarah's school to pick up the next week's worksheets and readers. The main reason I wanted to take a walk in the sunshine today.

Following my recent post of the buds on Rick's Mandevilla, the first flower is now open.
The village amateur clockmakers decided to try to mend the village clock. Only time will tell if they suceed.
Meahwhile a long time ago Chris Farlowe recorded Out of Time (1966). I saw him once. He put on a great show. At the grand old age of 82 it seems he is still performing.
Out of Time was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Mick Jagger produced the song for Chris Farlowe.

In oktober 2007 waren er omleidingen in verband met werkzaamheden aan de noordkant van Venlo. Doorgaande goederentreinen werden hiertoe omgeleid over de lijn Venlo-Roermond.
Op 23 oktober was het een prachtige herfstdag en was ik ver afgezakt in dit kleine landje. Na passage van wat bekende reizigerstreinen voor deze noorderling, kwam ERS in beeld met de niet erg goed beladen trein (3)40100 uit Venlo en is onderweg naar Roermond en zal vanaf daar door de achterop hangende 6604 richting de Rotterdamse havens worden getrokken.

Van 1 tot en met 10 april 2023 werkt INFRABEL aan het spoor in Hasselt waardoor er geen treinverkeer mogelijk is tussen Hasselt en Tongeren en Hasselt en Liers. Een NMBS-bus vervangt daardoor alle treinen tussen Hasselt, Tongeren en Liers.
De goederentreinen op de as Zeebrugge/Antwerpen – Aachen vv moeten door deze werken natuurlijk ook omrijden. Een deel van de goederentreinen wordt omgeleid via Essen maar het grootste deel van de goederentreinen rijdt via lijnen 36 (tussen Leuven en Liège) en 40 (tussen Liège en Visé).
Ik profiteerde op 4 april dan van het mooie 'paasvakantie'-weer en nestelde me een halve dag in Neerwinden waar ik een drietal plekjes bezocht. Mijn laatste plekje bevond zich in de bocht aan de Middelwindenstraat waar ik een heuse optocht aan mooie goederentreinen voor de lens kreeg. Het is dus moeilijk kiezen maar ik start met deze LKW Walter-shuttle van Köln naar Zeerbrugge-Ramskapelle - ik vind de combinatie van het DB-rood en het LKW Walter-blauw immers uiterst fraai!
Wie graag ook bewegende beelden bij de foto heeft, klikt eventjes hier en kan daarbij ook meteen genieten van het akoestische concert van de machinist - waarvoor dank! - en kan dan ook direct de vreemde eend in de bijt wat beter spotten ;-)

Due to rail works in Hasselt (Belgian railway lines 34 and 35), freight trains on the Aachen - Antwerp/Zeebrugge axis are diverted via lines 40 and 36 between April 1 and April 10, 2023.
Here, you can see DB Cargo 186 340-6 whilst working a fully loaded LKW Walter freight train as 40100 from Cologne to Zeebrugge.

Back to a misty March in 1977 and a shot of a class 40, no. 40100, as it approaches the eastern end of Healey Mills Yard with a ballast train, likely intended to support engineering work planned for the weekend.
The disc-fitted class 40s were always my favourite and just seemed to have more of a prehistoric look over the headcode fitted ones - put it this way, there was little doubting their heritage as first of the first-generation diesels. Based on my 1977 Ian Allan Locoshed Book, 40100 was allocated to Healey Mills when the shot was taken, so presumably the run out to collect the ballast wasn't a long distance working.
In the background can be seen Quarry Hill, maybe better known to sat-nav motorists as the A642 - remarkably free of traffic at the time and a condition unlikely to be encountered today. To the left is the old oil-tanker repair works - still doing reasonable business, but now a thing of the past. In the background there looks to be a surprising amount of washing hanging out to dry, despite it being a Wednesday.

Twenty five year old Jordan is a military brat.....and I mean that kindly. (A military brat is a child of serving or retired military personnel)
She was born in Cambridge, England and she honed into my English accent right away. She moved back to the US with her family at just 12 months old but she has a love and curiosity of all things British. Her mum is of Irish decent and her Dad is originally from New York. She is bar tender at Bosque brewpub. Amiable and so easy to talk with and I am sure she will soon become more than a stranger when we enjoy the food, her company and a beer at Bosque Brewpub in the future. Thank Jordan for being my girlie #1 in this project for me.

Eurocity 45 'Parsifal' from Paris-Nord to Köln Hbf via Maubeuge and Namur/Namen, hauled by SNCF CC 40104. CC 40104 powers the Corail coaches to the station of Liège Guillemins. Another engine will take the coaches to Aachen and probably Köln Hbf.
