Doing this shot has reminded me how much I need to work on my photoshop skills. Whilst it doesn't look too bad as it is now, looking at a larger image will reveal the poor editing around the icons. I don't really mind that much after all this 365 is about learning and improving and I am only on day 4.

The Mapuche, Christians, communist, anarchist, gay, Aymara (indigenous from the north), and even soccer team hooligans, demonstrate in a dramatic effort to start negotiations with the government before one of the Mapuche in hunger strike dies.

The government has demanded that the Mapuche stop the hunger strike before the negotiations start, but the mapuche refuse. In words of one of the lonkos (leaders) from the COOAMS (organization of family of those on hunger strike) " If we quit the hunger strike, the government will star negotiations that will drag on forever. This has happened before. We won´t budge, we will hold"

The situations has become very dramatic as Chile and the government approaches the celebration of 200 years of independence. All efforts are made to stop the Mapuche from dying and making this a bittersweet celebration.

The mapuche are against this particular date because it celebrates a state that has " ignored them for 200 years" " What is to celebrate? Our genocide?"
