Since I don't have much time to play games lately (and quite frankly it's way too hot to do so when you don't have AC but can only rely on a fan which tends to throw warm air at you most of the time), I thought I could finally start uploading my own stuff here as well not to leave Flickr neglected (and because in the end I don't think it's bad to just showcase what you do).
I found out about DAZ Studio little over 10 years ago, but I never really managed to use it properly until it got better with more beautiful characters, high quality textures, etc. Last year I decided to start taking commissions and build up a portfolio for professional purposes, so I started to create my own characters with aditional sculpting in ZBrush, retexturing and clothes making. This little piece here is from October (Halloween) and it was obviously a tribute to the remake of IT. I've never been fond of horror movies, but I must admit I quite like the new version of Pennywise.
Long story short I used Genesis 3 as base, played around with some installed morphs to get a nice starter shape and then heavily sculpted over his head using Bill Skarsgard's movie photos as reference. I'm not sure I got his creepy smile 100% right, but I tried. The clothes were also quite challenging because I've never made anything so detailed before in Marvelous Designer and now that I managed to learn even more about the program I can see a lot of mistakes here. The hair was just a quick work with the particle system in Blender Cycles, nothing particularly hard to do nor elaborated. I am currently starting to create my own hair meshes though, so I'll definitely rework this one and polish the model in general at some point.

Usually I tend to do video game characters mostly, but I'm trying to expand my repertoire to improve my skills (and because I have a few important future projects in mind) and be able to reproduce real people as well one way or another.
With the 80 image from the series “Ecce Homo” I pay homage to both Dali’s painting “sleep”, as well as Francisco de Goya’s “Caprichos” series.
The work is also technically the most unusual of the series, because I’ve actually spent more time in the postwork than the original 3drendering.
Goya’s cover piece on the eighty aquatint series “the sleeping author” or better known as the inscription “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters” I have processes here.

As I was passing through Jarry Park recently, I noted that some people had stretched two quite long slacklines between some trees. In local parks, I regularly see beginners walking on lines installed 30’’ off the ground and stretched between trees not more than 25 feet apart. The lines in front of my eyes that day had to be more than 100’ long and were strung higher than eye level.
I first figured I would do a panorama to show their span by stitching two photos together. It was an overcast day. With little contrast in the lighting, the lines were lost in the busy background. I eventually saw two friends climb onto them. I got nearer to take some shots. Although these guys seemed to know what they were doing, the photos didn’t work to my liking. The nice straight lines of the slacklines became broken lines dipping to barely a foot above ground as they passed the middle section. That wasn’t very spectacular. I knew all my photos so far were bland.
I figured that my attempt to do sports photography had failed but I still had the opportunity to do a portrait. I hadn’t talked to anyone yet – the boys were quite clearly on public grounds so I figured including them in the park landscape was OK. An up-close portrait is a different story.
Anthony was the first to come down and he paused a few minutes to grab a bite. I approached him, told him about my project and we discussed a bit. There was something a bit lofty about him but it wasn’t that he was exceptionally tall. He happens to be a serious slackliner. He has been on much longer slacklines in very impressive mountain settings that would give most people serious jitters.
When I mentioned Flickr, he told me he has a friend that sells basic starter kits on Flickr. His page is at www.flickr.com/photos/slacklinemontreal
You’ll find there some spectacular pictures not intended for folks with vertigo.
Anthony has been to some of the same meetings shown there in France and elsewhere. With his permission, I’d like to suggest that you look at this photo I found on his Facebook page. It will give you an idea of his skills. goo.gl/s90p49
I asked Anthony if he was some kind of professional. He answered that slacklining was a passion and he wouldn’t want it to become work.
Professionally, he spends a lot of time in front of computers and certainly is capable of a high level of abstraction. He designs virtual lighting for 3D renderers. Montreal has all kinds of video gaming and 3D cinema studios and specialty shops so he likely has no work shortage.
I’m certain that the real life thrill of being hundreds of feet in the air above the ground on a thin ribbon beats the hell out of any virtual reality gaming experience!
I’d like to thank Anthony for sharing his passion!
