This 3D computer model of the cake was done by my son in Blender to show the bride how the finished cake would look (at that time that was hopefully!!). I think that he is brilliant and it was a lot to live up to but I think that I managed okay - although my sharp edges are not quite as good!

Inspired by Flickr's Seb Prydz i decided to have a go at a little planet panorama. It doesnt really bear close inspection but im quite pleased for a first go. I opted for the (relatively) non technical route - a 9 shot 360 panorama merged with autostitich (free) then a simple polar distort in photoshop (like this www.3drender.com/light/PolarPan/index.htm ) .I filled in the hole in the middle with a spherized grass shot (didnt completely work) and tidied it up a bit with the clone tool and spot healer in photoshop.
Theres another technique that involves creating a rectangulinear (?) projection (using Hugin and pano tools) then doing some funny twisty maths with it - way beyond me at this point. Check out Seb Prydz to see how it should be done.
I had to do it relatively low res because my computer couldnt handle it at full-whack. Would be alot easier if id used a tripod.

Based on the tutorial found here www.webdesign.org/3d-graphics/articles/creating-an-abstra... Other than the 3D render, the tute uses paid for stock, so I sourced my own images to play with. Most of my time was spent on adjusting the colours of the images so that they all blended together well. Still not sure about the colour of the rocks.

The evening stadium lights illuminated the field while the crowd filled the stands with excitement and anticipation. Riley, the star cheerleader, had just finished her performance when Jay walked over and wrapped his arm around her waist. Amid the noise of the game and the glow of the floodlights, they found a quiet moment together. For everyone else, it was just another football game, but for them, it became a memory filled with warmth, young love, and dreams of a future they would share.
I have watched with interest as a contact of mine, BlackDog1966, has been working with composites where the background plates were digitally rendered 3D scenes using the Daz Studio (Free software). I have also been a long time follower of Joel Grimes and enjoyed his techniques of shooting gritty background plates to drop his subjects into.
I finally had the opportunity to have my own play with these kinds of techniques, although this was somewhat forced upon me through not having shot anything for my 52 photo this week, due to the back problems that I have been experiencing of late. So, although this composite doesn't contain any new photographs from this week, it could well end up being my week 45 contribution. I won't feel too bad about that though as I have put a fair number of hours into producing this image and (almost) every minute has been thoroughly enjoyable. I say almost, because there were one or two teething issues getting the Daz Studio models to install correctly for some of those minutes!
It was a good learning experience too. Most of the time was spent installing and learning my way around Daz Studio, then setting up the scene. I rendered it to a 32bit PNG file which supports transparency so you can see through the gaps through the gate and fencing. That made it simple to drop a photograph of a tree lined pathway from Clumber Park in as a background as no masking was necessary. I then extracted a photo of the car from an earlier photograph that I had made (See strobist details). Finally, I used Red Giant Software's Knoll Light Factory to create the lamp lights and played around for a while with the colours and contrast until the car looked like it belongs in the scene (I still need to work on that aspect, especially the car shadow).

I designed the Grobo Car as a future rear engined hot rod. I modeled the car from scratch using 3D modeling applications Groboto 3D v 3.3 (90%) & Hexagon 3D v 2.5 (10%). The car was textured using shaders in Vue Complete 2015. It was also rendered in Vue Complete. Slight postwork in Photoshop 2015 CC.
The car is influenced by my love of hot rods, American cars of the 1930s to 1950s and foreign sports cars.
I named the vehicle Grobo after Groboto 3D of which I did the bulk of the modeling in...
